Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well today! I’m on day 4 of a power cut following Storm Isaias and no power expected until Sunday – boo!! I managed to lean on the grace of my in-laws so we could use their water and power, but I did have to rely on different light for my photos.
I’m using the gorgeous Layered Glimmer Hot Foil Collection for my projects today. My first card features the Geometric Floral Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die set. I just love the geometric frame and rather than use it with the glimmer plate leaves in the set, I decided to keep the frame plain. I wanted to try some foiling on patterned paper and it worked WONDERFULLY! Yippee!
I foiled the frame in Matte Gold (a staple foil of mine) onto some cool celestial patterned paper. I then foiled a scripty sentiment in the centre (this one is from the June Glimmer of the Month club) using Matte Silver. It fit perfectly!
To embellish my frame, I die cut lots and lots of the leaves and tiny florals from the set, from that same patterned paper. I also foiled (in Matte Gold) on the same paper, the flower centres from the Glimmered Botanical Glimmer Hot Foil plate and die cut them out.
I tucked them all into opposite areas onto my frame using liquid glue, foam squares and added a few Nuvo Sunstone Glitter Drops and sequins to embellish, before mounting it onto a white notecard.
You’ll notice on my second card, I had to do a few little creative changes with the flowers because the Glimmer Hot Foil System needs power and I was only half done foiling when power went out! (DOH!). Luckily these sets are both Glimmer plates AND dies, and the Platinum 6 doesn’t require power 🙂
To create my card, I first did some creative scoring on a panel of gray cardstock using my scoreboard. I scored two borders at 1/4″ and 1″ and then filled in the 1″ rectangle in the centre with lines to create a frame.
I glimmered the main florals with Silver glimmer foil on both navy and FSJ Watermelon cardstock. Then my power went! So all the rest of my card is die cutting – I used the same cardstocks to cut the contrast layers and used them interchangeably on each flower (so Watermelon with navy and vice versa). I die cut the centres and leaves from FSJ River Gray cardstock and then adhered them all onto the scored panel with foam adhesive and liquid glue, curling up the leaves at their tips for dimension.
For a little added interest, I trimmed the flowers at the 1/4″ border so they fit around the centre. I then added some white acrylic paint splatters, and my sentiment. It is the ‘Happily Every After’ sentiment from the recently released Wedding Season by Nichol Spohr which I die cut from FSJ silver mirror cardstock. To finish, I added a few drops of Nuvo Berry Burst Stone drops and clear sequins, then mounted it onto a white notecard with craft foam.
Hope you like them, and hopefully next time I’m back, our home will have power again! Stay safe!
