Hi everyone, I’m excited today to be sharing two projects I created using the the new Cut & Emboss Folders from Spellbinders, released this month. Embossing Folders are one of my favorite supplies in my craft room. The way they change cardstock is like magic to me, and these folders from Spellbinders also die cut a little window! You can check out the video over on their YouTube if you want to find out more.

NEW Cut & Emboss Folders

Today I am featuring two of the folders released this month and two different ways to use them.

For my first card, I’m using the GORGEOUS Lahaina embossing folder. I love the leaf images on this folder and really wanted them to pop on the card, so I decided to watercolor them. I ran the folder through my Platinum 6 using Distress watercolor cardstock. Use the sandwich shown for an embossing folder on your platform.

I then used a waterbrush and pan watercolors and painted each of the leaves – first doing a wash of color (the lightest) then dropping in a mid color, and then finally a dark, and letting it blend out. I repeated this all over the embossed image, leaving just the flowers, which I then gave a bright pop of pink paint.

You’ll notice there are shimmering gold elements. I decided to use a WOW! Embossing marker and touched up some of the leaves, the dots, the flowers, and the outline with it. I then heat embossed in WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing powder for a subtle sparkle. I . trimmed out . the . panel and popped it on foam tape onto a . white notecard. The sentiment is from a Spellbinders card kit, popped up on foam tape with a gold nest of thread and some sequins.

For my next card, I used the Kyoto Cut & Emboss folder. I ran it through my Platinum 6 using matte gold cardstock. This gives . a fabulous almost art deco look. I adhered it directly to a white card base and then decided to use some cardstock ephemera from another Spellbinders card kit to complete the card.

I particularly love this little fox and I popped a balloon behind him for the sentiment. It has gold foil so ties in perfectly and is super cute! I added some clear and golld sequins to finish!

I hope this inspired you to play with your embossing folders. I really do love them, and the little cut details on these two really add some dimension and depth real life! Thanks to Spellbinders for giving me an early chance to play with them!
