Hi folks! I hope you caught yesterday’s post for the Altenew January 2020 release blog hop! Well, today I have another three cards to share with you today (yes, I couldn’t stop with this gorgeous release!) but be sure to check out the post from yesterday as there’s still a chance to take part in the blog hop giveaway.
My first card uses that beautiful Watercolor Halftone stamp again. This time it uses the larger stamp, and co-ordinating die, and WOW! Look at the detail on that die cutting – so intricate, I love how it cuts out the spaces in amongst the branches.
To create my card, I first took a panel of white cardstock placed in my MISTI, and overlaid the stamp across the corner of the panel, then stamped it. This is just going to be a placement indicator so it doesn’t matter what color you stamp it in. Then, without removing the stamp, flip the panel round in the MISTI and restamp. Before setting aside, splatter the panel with black ink or spray.
Taking a panel of jet black cardstock, I stamped the large stamps again, this time in Altenew Antique Gold pigment ink – I love that distressed look you get with the stamps! I dried the ink, then die cut the images out, then mounted onto my panel, lining up with the pre-stamped image, and trimming off any excess.
I die cut the Altenew Fancy Hello twice, once from Altenew Gold Mirror cardstock, once from Jet Black cardstock, and adhered them together slightly offset, to create a shadow, then mounted it in the centre with foam tape (creating a landscape card). To finish, I added drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops in White Blizzard. The sub-sentiment is from the Watercolor Halftone heat embossed in gold on jet black cardstock.
My next card uses the beautiful and intricate Ornate Cover Die. This is just gorgeous, and I just had to cut it from Altenew’s Gold Mirror cardstock! I mounted the panel onto a white 110lb card base (I used spray adhesive to stick it down).
If you follow my cards, you’ll know I love putting soft florals against geometric backdrops, so I couldn’t resist adding the new Simple Beauty stamp set. I stamped the florals and a scroll using the lightest and third lightest pinks from the Cherry Blossom Crisp Dye set, and the leaves and another scroll in the first and third lightest grays from the Gentelman’s Gray Crisp Dye set. The third layers on the scrolls, and the flower centres were heat embossed in WOW! Metallic Rich Pale Gold embossing powder.
I die cut out all of the stamped images using my Mini Blossom and arranged them on my card panel with foam squares. To finish, I stamped the sentiment from Watercolor Halftone in embossing ink on jet black cardstock and heat embossed in white embossing powder.
My final card features the Retro Plantines and the Vase Fillers stamps combined, along with their co-ordinating dies. I first die cut a panel of white cardstock using the one of the new Rounded Rectangles dies. I then used the Enchanted Garden Crisp Dye inks to create an ombre purple background with a blending tool.
I placed the panel in my MISTI and stamped some of the leaves from the Vase Fillers set using the same color inks to create an almost foggy, misty background, then added a few mists of water to create a speckled rainy look.
I stamped the leaves from Retro Plantines and the bell flowers from the Vase Fillers in black ink onto another panel of white cardstock and die cut them out. I arranged them on my panel temporarily and stamped the sentiment directly onto the panel in black ink. I then popped it up onto a white card base, and arranged the flowers and leaves with foam tape and liquid glue. I had some hang off the edge for interest and trimmed off the excess. As a finishing touch, I added some black sequins and rounded the corners with a corner chomper to match the frame.
How good is this release??!! Don’t forget there’s a hop going on right now – see yesterday’s post, which has chances to win prizes! I’ve listed my supplies below – enjoy!
