I am starting to feel that chill in the air! Brrrr…. It just so happens to coincide with the new release from Catherine Pooler Designs – Retro Winter! Which includes FOUR NEW INK COLORS – squeeeeallllllll! I love my CPD inks. Catherine was kind enough to send me the inks and a couple of the stamp sets to play with and today’s post shows you what I came up with. I’ll have another tomorrow as well!

The new release is available now and linked below (affiliate links).

The cool (pun?!) thing about this release is that while it is great for holiday cards, it also has some fun non-Christmas greetings – including winter birthdays! Don’t you just love this sentiment?

For my first card, I created a shaker, using the co-ordinating dies from the Frosted Blossom set. I wanted to really showcase the new patterned paper and Cincinnati sequins and shakers are always a good way to do this!

To create my card, I took a panel of paper trimmed to 4.25″ x 5.5″. I then die cut three windows using the blossoms dies, and adhered acetate to the back. I created a little ‘well’ behind each opening using a double layer of 3M foam tape, and then tipped in the sequins.

To close the shaker, I added another layer of the light blue patterned paper directly over the top, flipped it over and trimmed the paper before backing it to a white notecard.

The sentiment is from the Chillin’ Snowflakes stampset. It was stamped on Smoke & Mirrors CPD grey cardstock in WOW! Embossing ink and heat embossed in WOW! Opaque Bright White.

I just loved that blue patterned paper so much I used it on another card as the background so you can see it better – trimmed slightly to create a mat on a white notecard.

I just love those Frosted Blossoms images – they’re kinda snowflakes but also kinda not, like flowers or mandalas. I stamped and die cut a bunch of them in the new Pink Champagne and Hot Tub (GORGEOUS) inks. The four new inks are all Spa inks which mean they have a hint of grey / muted tones to them and are some of my very very favorite. I also stamped and embossed a few in WOW! Metallic Silver embossing powder.

Before arranging the die cuts on my panel, I heat embossed a sentiment from the Frosted Blossoms stamp set onto Smoke & Mirrors cardstock and heat embossed in WOW! Opaque Bright White EP. I then adhered it to my panel with foam tape – I like to do the sentiment first for cards like this as it makes it easier to avoid ‘losing’ the sentiment in the die-cuts.

I added the die cuts with different levels of foam squares (one or two layers) as well as using liquid glue directly on the panel. As a finishing touch I added a few of the white and blue sequins from the Cincinnati mix.

Stay tuned tomorrow for another card featuring my favorite CPD ink EVER!
