Hi Folks!

I was super excited to get the gorgeous new Be Kind stamp set from The Gray Muse this week and just HAD TO WATERCOLOR IT IMMEDIATELY! If you have no idea what stamp set I’m talking about you can find it here. I think they’re getting restocked very shortly.

To create the card, I heat embossed the image using WOW! Metallic Platinum embossing powder onto hot press watercolor cardstock. I then watercolored the image using my Daniel Smith tube paints.

I wanted to add something that was kind of an homage to Ruby the owner of The Gray Muse, and she’s known for her watercolor galaxies. I actually took a class of hers recently on painting a galaxy and loved it. So, I decided to make the Be Kind in the centre the galaxy part. To do this I first painted the entire image. I used Moonglow and Prussian Blue for the letters (Moonglow first then Prussian Blue dropped in) . The flowers are Rose of Ultramarine with a little Wisteria mixed in, and the leaves are some colored blacks using my Boku-Undo-Sumi paints.

When dry, I created a rough mask with some thick cardstock by stamping the image onto it in black ink and then using a craft knife to cut out the Be Kind roughly. I overlaid the mask onto my panel, then flicked white Gouache (Windsor & Newton) and gold paint (Colorio/Finetec) with a tiny paint brush onto the Be Kind to create my galaxy letters. I then removed the mask. Any random splatters can be lifted up with water and a paper towel.

Hope you like it!!!!

Jenny
