Hi Everyone!

You know from my recent post how much I love and adore The Gray Muse’s first stamp set Be Kind. Well she’s done it again, with the new Hugs stamp set and I couldn’t wait to play.

I really love heat embossing these large images. This time I heat embossed the image in WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder onto Cotton Candy pink cardstock by Simon Says Stamp. This is good thick cardstock, and can therefore take a little water, even though it isn’t watercolor cardstock specifically.

I added ink blending in from the edges, leaving an area open (behind the Hugs) allowing the colors I chose to ‘blend in to’ the Cotton Candy cardstock. I used Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and then a little Seedless Preserves around the edges. I the flicked a little water and dabbed it off to give that classic distressed look.

I then decided to use my Finetec Metallic Watercolors (now called Coliro I believe) to color in the images. These are very bright on dark cardstock but much more subtle on paler cardstock. In my card you can see them well, but if you tilt it in the light they vanish like magic!

I used Lilic and Shining Pink on the flowers, and Rose Gold in the berries. I also added Green Pearl on the leaves. I didn’t color the hugs with paint but instead used lashings of Star Dust Stickles for extra sparkle and left it to dry. I then mounted the panel onto a Cotton Candy card base.

I just love how this turned out, hope you do to!
