Hi Everyone!

I’m thrilled to be part of a video hop today celebrating my friend Maaike’s wonderful milestone – 3000 subscribers on YouTube! There are several of us taking part in so be sure to check it out! My video features Monochromatic Halo Masking – each of my cards uses black, white and one color, and I use masking with co-ordinating dies to create a halo around a stamped image.

My first card uses lots of tiny stamps and dies along with ink blending. I’m using the wonderful Catherine Pooler Designs Amber’s World set.

I used Inkadinkado Stamping Masking paper for all of my masking, along with Versafine Onyx Black ink for the stamps. On this card I used ink blending with CPD Inks – Flirty Fuchsia, and Grape Crush. I added some white gel pen accents too. For my sentiment I die cut the MFT Stamps HUGS Die-namics 5 times and stacked them together. A few Nuvo Crystal Gems added a little sparkle!

My next card uses the ink pad direct to paper, rather than ink blending. I used the Stand Tall flamingo co-ordinating die by CPD and masked it in the same way as before. I then used CPD Party Dress ink and pressed the pad direct to the paper a few times and heat set it. Before lifting the mask, I also splattered some Tsukineko Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz liberally over the panel and heat set it.

I lifted off the mask and stamped the flamingo in black ink, as well as the ground underneath its foot. For my sentiment I used the CPD Amazing Florals and stamped in embossing ink and heat embossed in WOW! Bright White Opaque embossing powder. I finished it off with some Honeybee Stamps Pomegranate Rainbow sequins.

My final card uses the same technique as before but instead of using ink, uses glitter paste! I am using the Caribbean Bo Bunny Glitter Paste for this card, along with the Halftone Hello stamp and die set from Altenew.

I adhered the mask first, and then using the Halftone stencil by Altenew, applied my glitter paste directly over the top. I left it to dry before removing the mask, which is a little tricky as the paste realllllly holds onto that paper – you have to do it in sections. You could remove the mask before the paste dries but I didn’t want to risk smearing!

I stamped the Hello outline in black, and the filler image with CPD Daydream ink which perfectly co-ordinates with the paste. To finish the sentiment, I used my trusty vintage Dymo label maker (ebay!) and popped it up on foam tape.

I love this technique, it has been around for some time, but it’s always so fun peeling back that mask!! Enjoy the hop, and congratulations to Maaike on her wonderful achievement! Be sure to check out her channel and blog and if you’re not already a subscriber – subscribe!
