Hi Everyone!
Some of you may have seen the sneak peak of the gorgeous Tonic Studios Nuvo Dream In Color collection goodies that I received from from Scrapbook.com on my Instagram this week. Well, I’m excited to share the first project I created with the collection. I have to say, it was a joy playing with these – so much sparkle and soft colors and shimmers.
This card focuses on the gemstones – I wanted to really make them the focus of the card. To create the card I adhered an A2 panel of the Tonic Studios Silver Chequer cotton cardstock (absolutely beautiful in real life) to 110lb Neenah Solar White card to create my card base.
I wanted to embellish an image with crystals, without over-doing it, so I decided on a mandala – the Lacy Flower XL by Waffle Flower was perfect. I die cut it twice – once from Tonic Berry Fizz Glitter cardstock and once from Tonic Pearlescent Barely Blush cardstock. I stacked them on top of each other with the glitter cardstock just peeping through. These three cardstocks co-ordinate perfectly together and are just stunning up close.
I adhered the die cut to the card base so that one quarter of the shape was overhanging and then trimmed off the edges. I then started adding the crystals. I chose Nuvo Pure Sheen Gemstones – Crystal Gems, and Amethyst Squares. I alternated sizes and types throughout the mandala – doesn’t it make it look glam?!
To finish, I added a heat embossed sentiment by Altenew popped up on foam tape – with so much bling going on, I wanted to make sure the rest of the card was quite simple. The texture and beauty of the base cotton paper cardstock was just enough to balance out the composition.
You can get all of the goodies I used today from Scrapbook.com.
