Hi Everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a great week so far! I’m currently sofa surfing with a glass of wine and thought I’d pop by and post a card I made last week that I didn’t get around to posting.  It features the very cool Mermaid Love stamp set by Flora & Fauna.

To create the card, I first created my watercolor background.  I used Finetec metallic watercolors in a variety of pearly blues and greens, and dropped them into a randomly painted pool of clean clear water . on a panel of cold press cardstock.  These are some of my favourite paints – if you tilt them in the light, they are iridescent and shimmer beautifully – although this is hard to capture on camera.

I added a few splatters, and then let paint dry naturally  I also added a few more splatters and dried with a heat tool for a darker color.  For more interest, I stamped some of the foliage from the set in pale grey ink (I used Twilight ink by Catherine Pooler), and some hearts in black ink.    When dry, I die cut the panel with the Reverse Confetti Stitched Rays coverplate.

I stamped the clam image in Versafine Onyx Black ink on white cardstock, and colored it roughly with Tombow Dual Brush markers.   I then fussy cut it out and went round the edge of it with a black Memento marker to clean up and rough edges.

I backed the watercolored panel with blue fun foam and adhered it to a Neenah Solar White 110lb card base.  I then popped up the clam image with foam squares onto the panel overlaying the circle in the coverplate.

The sentiment is from the stamp set and was heat embossed in WOW! Bright White Opaque embossing powder onto a strip of shimmery blue cardstock and then popped up onto the card with a foam strip.

For the piece de la resistance, I added a large dot of Nuvo Dream Drops in Fairy Wings to look like a pearl in the clam – I absolutely adore these new Dream Drops and wanted them to be a feature on the card!

Hope you like it!!
