Hi Everyone!

We are celebrating Time Out Challenges’ 4th Birthday!! Wow, how awesome is that – I’ve been lucky enough to be on the team for around half that time, and I am really looking forward to the next 4!  I want to shout out a special thank you to the ever wonderful and kind Sandie who runs the show, keeps us all happy and together and teamie, and Nonni who started the challenge with Sandie and has been a co-runner.  A wonderful bunch of ladies, I’m so lucky to know them.

Our challenge this week is ‘Inspired by Words’ and Concord & 9th were kind enough to sponsor the challenge with $25 for the winner, as well as letting us all have some C9 goodies of our choice to create our cards.

I first created the background using the C9 Barnwood background stamp.  I stamped it in Versamark onto white cardstock, and heat set using white embossing powder. I ink blended Aquatini and Mint to Be Catherine Pooler inks over the embossed background (the heat embossing resists the ink) using my Claritystamp brushes, trimmed down the panel to 5.25″ x 4″ and then adhered using fun foam to a Neenah Solar White card base.

I die cut the CP Detailed Blooms die twice from Catherine Pooler Premium White cardstock.  This is a super detailed die, you’ll definitely need a metal shim for it to cut out fully.  I then used my Koi watercolors to loosely dab on (as I”m not using watercolor cardstock) a variety of pinks and greens.  When dry, I added some dashes of gold Wink of Stella for some sparkle.  I then adhered these die cuts to the card panel with liquid glue.  They create a circle opening in the centre.

To finish, I stamped a mandala image from the CP Many Mandalas set onto vellum in Versamark and heat embossed in  Ranger Superfine gold embossing powder.  I then added the sentiment and die cut out with the matching die.   I adhered to the panel with KoolTak clear foam tape which doesn’t show through the vellum.  I’m using Catherine Pooler’s new vellum which is really thick which helps too!   The sentiment is from the same set, heat embossed in gold onto a scrap of black cardstock, trimmed it out and popped it up on foam tape.

And that’s it – I love C9 and they have been so generous with their sponsorship of this challenge.   Be sure to head on over to the Time Out Challenges blog AND the C9 blog to see more details.  Our guest designer this week is the amazing Claire – be sure to check out her inspiring cards, and hop over to her blog too, her cards blow me away !

Have a wonderful day!

  2. Absolutely stunning use of dies! I love the look of gold heat embossing on vellum and using that delicate die cut as background (even water colored as beautifully as you’ve done!) was a super idea. Very creative card with an unique, artsy feel.

  3. Thank you so much Jenny for your kind words, it means a lot. And your card is amazing, so detailed and so much time must have gone into this. So very worth it as it shines for sure. Thank you for all the inspiration you give us and our players x
