Hi there everyone! I’m excited to be guesting for Concord & 9th this week as we showcase the new December release and it’s AMAZING. I’ll be sharing a new project each day featuring each new set (and tomorrow is the one I’m most excited about 🙂

First up today, we’ve got Eclectic Blooms – this is a stamp and die which features an outline floral (I think it’s a Lily) and several shapes that you can use to stamp over the top and ‘fill in’ the leaves, flowers or entire background. They don’t perfectly line up so it’s kind of a modern vibe which we’ve come to know and love from C9. There’s also a gorgeously huge sentiment stamp which I couldn’t resist featuring on my card. The die set cuts outs the florals and sentiment, and it also has several stand alone sentiments to choose from.

Although this is a super clean and simple card, I have a few techniques going on here. First, I stamped down the outline of the floral in black ink on a panel of white cardstock. I then placed it in my MISTI and overlaid each of the ‘bubble’ solid filler stamps. I did the florals first, and used a fun technique to create a gradient style stamped outline. I first stamped the entire area in Ballet Slipper. Without removing the stamp added Honeysuckle into the centres and on the edges here and there, daubing the harsh ink edges with sponge blender to soften and then restamped. Finally I used a touch of Poppy in the center, blended on the stamp and then stamped. This gives that lovely shaded look to the filler. For the leaves I did the exact same thing, using Sprout and Clover inks.

I lined up the ‘So Kind of You’ stamp over the top of the flowers so that the upper corner slightly overlapped one of the leaves and then overstamped with Stardust ink a couple of times. (Stardust is my all time favorite C9 ink btw – it goes with literally everything! )

I then die cut out the sentiment and a piece of dark red fun foam with the coordinating die. I adhered the stamped panel to a note card, then placed the red foam inside the open area, and adhered the sentiment on top. This gives an illusion of a one layer card, but when you turn it to the side you see the fun foam peeping through. I also love how the leaf overhangs that sentiment. These are a couple of techniques to play with to keep things CAS 🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card featuring the new release – stay tuned!
