Hi everyone! Are you ready for another Marvelous Monthly from Altenew? If you missed it last month, today’s the day that Altenew releases all of its monthly subscriptions for July – the Craft-A-Flower, Build-A-Garden, Paint-A-Flower, Craft Your Life Project Kit, and Mini-Delight. I’m featuring several of them today and today’s post is part of a blog hop – starting over at the Altenew Blog!
My first card features the new Paint-A-Flower: China Rose. I stamped it onto cold press watercolor cardstock in Permanent Black ink. I then colored them with Watercolor Brush Markers (using the Winter Wonderland set) but adding color, pulling it out with a wet brush then adding more color. I used Ruby Red and Rouge on the petals, and on the leaves I used Emerald and Mountain Mist. When dry, I fussy cut out the flowers and added some detail in the centre with black and white gel pen.
My background is white cardstock, overlaid with the Lacy Tile Stencil and spritzed with the Ruby Red Metallic Shimmer Spray. I lifted it off to reveal a glorious shimmery background upon which I adhered the flowers with foam tape.
I used the ‘Love You’ stamp to add a small sentiment directly onto the background which I adhered to a white notecard with a small border. I finished with a few clear gray crystals.
My next card features the new Craft-A-Flower: Garden Rose. I decided to try a little experiment, die cutting all of the pieces with Jet Black cardstock. I wanted to ink them up with Pigment ink. I first added some touches of white pigment ink and dried it, which lightened the cardstock slightly and gave a good base to add the colored pigment ink. I used the Red Cosmos range of inks.
I added the ink down towards the centre, fading into the dark centre, using the Ruby Red and Coral Berry Pigment Inks. I also added Antique Gold Pigment ink to the edges here and there to give a dry brushed distressed look. The flower centre is Jet Black cardstock overlaid with glossy black cardstock. The flower centre is actually from the Layered Wood Flower set as my early version of the CAF didn’t have the center.
I die cut each of the leaves from Mirror Gold cardstock, and then arranged the flowers onto a dry embossed background. I used the Curving Leaves 3D Embossing folder, splattered with Jet Black ink and then added a sentiment from the Build-A-Garden set.
The new Build-A-Garden: Tulip and Friends set is really fun. I wanted to keep it super soft and pretty, so chose colors that kept it pastel and pale. Using the coordinating stencil, I paired it with the following inks:Cotton Candy, Baby Pink, and Strawberry for the tulips. For the leaves I used Pistachio and Sweet Leaf. For the little florals I used Lemon Ice and Sunray. I actually stamped the flowers in pale colors using the ink pads on the stamp in the areas broadly aligned to where each part of the image’s color was – Cotton Candy on the Tuplips, Sunray on the Flowers and Pistachio on the leaves.
Once stencilled on, I stamped the sentiment directly over the top in Obsidian Pigment Ink. I also added a few splatters using Mountain Mist , Warm Sunshine, and Frosty Pink Shimmer Sprays. I finished with some Rose Gold sequins.
My final cards feature the Craft Your Life Project Kit Always Sunshine. I made two cards with it because I just love that gorgeous curly stamped image – its so pretty!
On my first card, I simply dry embossed a panel of kraft cardstock with the craft kit embossing folder. I lightly rubbed the Antique Gold Pigment ink over the top of the embossing, letting the ink pad lightly touch the tips and edges of the leaves. I also added a few Antique Gold Metallic Shimmer Spray with a paint brush, flicking them over the top.
I then stamped a sentiment from the stamp set in between two nestled leaves in Obsidian Pigment ink. I finished with a few clear drops. Super quick and so pretty!
For the second card, I used a panel of Spicy Yogurt cardstock and stamped the main floral image over the top in gray – I used the Gentleman’s Gray set of inks to stamp and I also used it to stamp the centres of the leaves.
For the florals I used gray blues and topped them Ocean Waves. For the main frloal I used Pink Pearl and Coral Bliss. I also added a touch of gold gel pen in the centres of the florals. I added some ink splatters using Sea Glass Shimmer Spray. I then stamped the sentiment in Obsidian Ink again.
Once dry, I dry embossed the image with the coordinating embossing folder, overlapping it for a dimensional floral ‘bush’ look.

Nice project shares. I like the way the second card is colored. I would give this a try. Starting with the black cardstock and layering the color has great results for depth.
