Hi everyone!! Altenew is releasing a brand new set of stand-alone embossing folders and stencils today! I have several projects to share and can’t wait for you to see them! First of course, if you weren’t sent here from Mindy Eggen‘s blog, I recommend heading on over to the Altenew Blog to start from the beginning of the hop.

For my first project, I used the Motif Tile 3D Embossing Folder. I dry embossed a panel of Moon Rock cardstock, then ink blended around the edges.

I first blended with Cloudy Sky Crisp Dye Ink, in towards the centre. I then came in at the edges with Grape Agate, letting it slightly overlap and fade into the Cloudy Sky. I then finished with Dark Night around the edges to add depth and deepen them up.

To add more texture, I splattered the panel first with Antique Silver Metallic Shimmer Spray, then Pure White and also a spritz of water with the Fine Mister. The sentiment is from the Block Sentiments stamp set, stamped in Obsidian Pigment Ink, trimmed and popped up on the centre.

My next card also features some ink blending – this time I’m using the new Hosta 3D Embossing Folder. I dry embossed it partially, stopping the die cutting machine around 2/3rds of the way through the roll, and pulling it back the way it came. This leaves wonderful texture towards the top and a flat surface still perfect for stamping directly onto, towards the bottom.

I ink blended various shades of green ink from top to middle, fading out the lightest and getting darker towards the top of the panel. I used Fresh Leaf, Mountain Pine and Pistachio, with a touch of Jet Black along the top.

The sentiment is from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Florescence stamp set, stamped in Obsidian Pigment ink. I splattered a little Forest Glades Metallic Shimmer Spray here and there to finish.

My final project today features the Vintage Lace 3D Embossing Folder and Coloring Stencil. I stenciled it first onto a panel of white cardstock, lining up the image so that it is the centre of the card panel.

I ink blended using a variety of peachy pink inks including Rose Quartz, Pink Pearl and Cotton Candy. For the leaves I used Mocha, very lightly blended. I then added a little green from a green blending tool for the stem. I then aligned the stencilled image with the coordinating embossing folder and ran it through – raising up the image perfectly! I finished with some Jet Black splatters.

My sentiment is stamped in Obsidian Pigment Ink, onto cardstock colored with Pink Pearl and trimmed out. I scattered a few coordinating sequins here and there and mounted onto a white notecard, leaving a small border.

  5. your card is beautiful. I am going to guess that you inadvertently left out of your description that after using the stencil, you aligned the card top with the embossing folder and ran that through the machine. Or? would love to know so I can use your same technique. I really like the mocha colored leaves to play against the peach/pink colors.

  12. I loved your examples – all so beautiful! I like the idea of partially dry embossing a design leaving part of the space blank for stamping; it gave it a unique look.
