Hi Everyone! I’m back with another new release from Spellbinders featuring more Color Block fun!! Seriously, I didn’t realise how much enjoyed die cutting the same dies over and over again and just playing around with the arrangements! The new Color Block Mini Shapes Collection is absolutely perfect for just having fun with color and concentric patterns! Each die set comes with a solid (to act as a backer to the concentric die cuts, or as a solid block) and a matching concentric die, that cuts out multiple ‘rings’ of the shape.

I decided to feature Brushed Gold cardstock in both of my cards, then chose a range of four colors for each card that were similar shades – corally red orange on one, and pinks on the other. I started by doing all my die cutting, keeping each color set of concentric dies in its own pile. For the Mini Drops, I used Dahlia, Wild Berry, Pink Sand, and a hot pink scrap from my scraps drawer. I die cut each concentric drop twice from each color (and gold) and several of the solid drop from white cardstock.

I then added adhesive to a solid drop, and paper pieced (inlaid) on the color rings to each on, alternating the order in which the colors went. I actually could make five drops just by die cutting each color once so I had plenty to spare!

I arranged five drops in a ‘fan’ shape on a white card panel with foam squares, including a double layer at the front. I then added the sentiments (both from older die sets of the month) in black (white white heat embossing, or paired against vellum) and mounted them on foam tape in the front. For a little tie in to yesterday’s Color Block Edges card, I added a messy nest of gold thread behind the sentiment.

I trimmed down the pice to 3.75 square, and mounted onto a square note card with fun foam to finish.

For my second card, I used Pomegranate, Terra Cotta, Persimmon and Poppy Field, repeating the same process as before, this time using the Mini Petals dies.

With these, I arranged them in a floral circle, leaving room in the middle to add my messy nest again, as well as a glimmered sentiment (glimmered in matt gold). I added a few Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems here and there, trimmed down the panel to 4 x 5.25″ and mounted onto an A2 card with fun foam to finish.

The simplicity of these dies is genius – they’re so small, but you can really come up with almost limitless possibilities in their color combos, arrangements and even combine them together for different looks!
