Hi there!! Altenew’s monthly Stamp and Die release is a little later than usual this month due to all the the festivities for the 8th anniversary!! I hope you’ve been having fun joining in the hops, and today’s the day we get to share the new release!! You should have been sent here from Mindy Eggen‘s blog, if not head on over to the Altenew Blog to start at the start!
My first card features the gorgeous Morning Flowers stamp and die set – this is a super pretty stamp set and I wanted to do something a little different. I started by die cutting the leaf die from a panel of cream cardstock, several times. When done, I overlaid it on a white panel of cardstock and used the leaf layering stamps to stamp the leaves directly underneath, using the die cut panel as a guide. The layers were stamped using the Sea Shore range of inks. I then overlaid the cream panel onto the stamped panel with foam tape, letting the leaves peep through the apertures.
On a separate panel of cardstock, I used the Rose Petal range of inks to stamp the florals, plus Almond Butter and Espresso for the centres. I die cut them out and arranged them over my leaf panel with more foam tape. I added a few white gel highlights, then stamped the sentiment in Obsidian Pigment Ink, trimming it out and popping it onto the panel. I finished with a few clear gold rhinestones here and there.
My next card features the Midsummer Bouquet stamp set. I couldn’t resist doing some no-line watercolor using my 36 pan watercolor set, and Vanilla Cream ink. I also added some details using Hawaiian Shores markers and then fussy cut out the floral.
For my background, I used the Lacy Tile stencil on more watercolor cardstock, adding some embossing paste, here and there and setting it aside to dry. When dry, I added some watercolor loosely, letting it run around the embossing paste, and also added a few splatters. I then overlaid the bouquet. I stamped the sentiments from the set in Obsidian Pigment ink then trimmed them out, adhering them over a messy nest of gold thread to finish.
My next card features the Meadow Reflections stamp set. It is a solid stamp set, great for creating silhouettes. I started by masking off a small rectangle in the centre of a panel of watercolor cardstock using the Satin Masking Tape, and using a wet brush, used watercolors to create a sunset blending from red to orange to yellow. When dry, I removed the masking tape.
I stamped the Meadow Reflections leaves using Paper Bag and Caramel Toffee Pigment Inks, overlapping the watercolored part. When everything was dry, I added lots of powder, then stamped the three butterflies using embossing ink, and heat embossing in Razzleberry embossing powder. I then stamped the sentiment in Obsidian in and added a few splatters of Warm Sunshine Metallic Ink Spray. I finished with a few clear sequins, and used the new Altenew Double Sided tape to adhere the panel to a white notecard.
Using these different types of media (watercolor – translucent), Pigment ink (opaque) and embosisng powder (dimensional opaque) lets me add dimension while keeping it one layer!
My final card today is super clean and simple. It uses the Leaf Canopy Add-On mini stamp set. I stamped the outline stamp several times using Jet Black ink, and then using my MISTI, I stamped the solid part off set from the outline to create a cascade look. I actually stamped the solid part of the leaves twice, once with the main color and then again with a darker shade about half way up the stamp, to create shading. I used the same Sea Shore and Rose Petals ink sets as before. I then stamped the sentiment in Obsidian pigment ink.
I die cut the panel with the Cross Stitch Canvas cover die to add texture, and splattered the panel with the Iridescent Ink Spray here and there, finishing with a few clear sequins for a subtle shine.
