There’s a new release from Gina K Designs today!! WOOT WOOT! Gina sent along the gorgeous Happy Bouquet, designed by the talented Arijita Singh! It’s a stunning floral arrangement, perfect for watercoloring. I decided to do no-line watercoloring, with super soft pinks, purples and blues for the color scheme.
I stamped the image first, in Gina K Designs Warm Glow Amalgam Ink, onto hot press watercolor cardstock. I then used my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors to paint the florals, building up the intensity with multiple layers of color. The hues were created from mixing colors together, including adding a little black to mute the colors. I went with lilac leaves, pale pink leaves, and pale blue and purple blooms. I mixed only a little of each color, and kept recreating it, that way, each color mixture was slightly different and gives a lovely multi tone look.
When I finished, I fussy cut out the flowers and set aside. For my background I stamped the loose leaves and flowers ‘extras’ from the stamp set in a pale pink ink all over a panel of white cardstock. I added some warm browns to the centre, tracing the stamens, and adding a touch of white gel pen for highlight.
I then heat embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment directly over the top in SSS Antique Gold embossing powder. I added a few dark brown splatters and adhered the flowers onot the panel with foam tape.
I finished with a few pearls and crystals to complete the card and adhered it to a white notecard to finish!
Love how this turned out, I hope you do too!
