Hello there cardmakers! It’s December 2021 – wow this year has simply flown by!! I’m excited to close out the year’s Build-A-Flower collection from Altenew with today’s beauty – the Queen of the Lillies! If you didn’t land here from Kari VanNoy‘s blog, then I highly recommend heading over to the Altenew Card Blog first to hop along with us!
I chose a soft pastel color palette with a pop of depth for my stamping, keeping the leaves neutral to focus all in on those gorgeous petals. The leaves and flower outline were stamped with Obsidian Pigment ink. I then stamped the leaves with Morning Frost, Silver Stone and Industrial Diamond. The flower was stamped with Pale Mauve, Orange Sorbet (double stamped to add just a hint of that color without overpowering the Mauve). The central veins were stamped with Grapevine.
To add the detailed spots, I used embossing ink and heat embossed with Copper embossing powder. I also used the same embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment on Jet Black cardstock to coordinate. I die cut out the flower and leaves, trimmed out the sentiment and set aside.
My background is created using Spicy Yoghurt cardstock which I created a smushed background using watercolor brush markers. I simply scribbled some onto a palette sheet, spritzed with water and smushed the cardstock into it.
I dry embossed the smushed watercolor panel with the Areca Pine dry embossing folder, trimmmed it down and adhered it to a notecard with foam. I popped the flower, leaves and sentiment on top, then finished with a few Satin White sequins to finish.
