Hi everyone! I finally got a chance to play with the Spellbinders Large and Small Dies of the month. They work perfectly together (and with some older kit dies that also feature that fun wave shape) to create christmas cards, slimline or standard. I used both kits in my cards today with a rustic color combo.

For both of my cards, I used a kraft overlay on a white base, along with traditional christmas reds and greens. In my first card, I used two of the long dies from the large die of the month, lined them up together, to cut this ornate intricate border on a kraft panel already trimmed to 4.25″ x 5.5″. I then stamped ‘A Gift For You’ in black ink. This is a stamp from the Clear Stamp of the Month, that is perfectly shaped to fit along the curved dies. I then popped it onto a white notecard with foam tape.

I used the ornament die sets from the Small Die of the Month, die cut from pale gold glitter cardstock using all of the inner die layers. I used a different color of thread on each, and stitched a quick and simple. star on each then finished with a gold enamel dot. I also added an ornament cap die cut form gold mirror cardstock.

I mounted the three ornaments onto the card panel with foam squares, adding pale gold thread in the top and pulling taught over the top edge of the panel and securing with tape. I also added a few poinsettias and holly leaves die cut from deep red and dark green cardstock. These dies are fun extras in the large die of the month. I mounted them onto the ornaments, and scattered a few gold enamel dots to finish.

My second card uses a similar color scheme and all the dies I used are from the Large Die of the month. I stacked the wave dies together from the kraft cardstock (the mesh look die, and the straight lines die). I separately die cut the floral border and the lacy looped border from gold mirror cardstock separately, then mounted all of them on foam tape to the front of a white notecard. I also stamped the “noel’ from the Clear Stamp of the Month, in black ink in the same way as before.

I decided to embellish the gold border with a few die cuts and overlay them with glue. I die cut the tree branches from dark green, the poinsettia from dark red, the mistletoe berries from white, and the flowers from pale gold glitter cardstock. I added a few gold enamel dots around the edges to finish!

I love how these turned out. Those borders can really be stacked and stacked for different looks!
