Hey everyone! How about brightening your week by taking some time out to surf through our blog hop today, celebrating Altenew’s Thanks and Blessings September Release? If you didn’t land here from Emily’s blog, you can start at the top of the hop over on the Altenew blog.
My favorite set in the new release might just be the Blossom & Bloom stamp set. I love the outline of this, perfect for watercolor, but I decided to make it look more like luxurious paper and decided to heat emboss it in gold onto deep red cardstock. I created a slimline size card, in blended at the edges with Grapevine and Jet Black to add depth.
I added a few flicks of Altenew Antique Gold Spray and scattered a few gold sequins around the sentiment. This is from the same set, stamped in Obsidian ink and trimmed out.
My next card features the Floral Thanks stamp set. This set is really different, a layered style with the pieces in the background interlocking together, to form a shadowed ‘ thanks’ word in the centre. I created the image with pale pastel inks, Misty Morning, Vanilla Cream, Rose Quartz and Pale Mauve.
I stamped the outline of the ‘thanks’ over the top in black ink, and then die cut out the image and the thanks itself. I mounted them onto pale purple craft foam die cut with the same dies to add depth.
To create the card style, I used a panel of patterned paper from the 6 x6 Wildflower paper pack. I adhered it to the front of a notecard, then mounted the die cuts over the top on the corner. I then trimmed around the outer right edge to remove that corner. You can also cover up the cuts by adding a third die cut in white onto the back inside the card.
I added a few iridescent enamel dots to finish, including on the inside of the card so they peeped out, so the recipient can see it’s a cutaway!
My next two cards are a little more clean and simple. The first features the Walnut Branch embossing folder. I dry embossed real wood paper with it, and then ran the Antique Gold ink pad over the raise images to really draw them out.
My sentiment is from the new All About Thanks die set, cut from vellum and mirror gold cardstock, which I adhered together, then popped up on the top of the panel. A great neutral card for someone!
My final card features the new Block Stencil. You can get a bunch of different looks with this layering pair, like this. I used dark and light shades of ink to get this optical illusion – kind of weird. right!! It’s just one layer! I ink blended using the instructions on the package, using Emerald, Icy Water, Arctic and Volcano Lake. The layering guide also includes lots of other. patterns you can achieve with this clever stencil!
I added a strip of gold mirror cardstock, and then used the thinnest die from All About Thanks to die cut a window directly across. I kept the inner pieces, mounted it all onto a notecard and then glued the inner pieces in place, finishing with a few clear sequins and a few water splatters.
By the way, in case you missed it, this release has some awesome new tools for your crafty toolbox – Mixed Media Palette Knifes! I’ll be featuring them in an upcoming project!
