Hi Everyone!

Here in the USA it’s almost Independence Day – hopefully the weather will hold out so that we can all have some outside fun, although I’m always ok with rain as it gives me more time to sneak off into my craft room – anyone else do that? LOL!

Today’ I’m featuring the July Small Die of the month from Spellbinders. I was in the mood for something a little darker and dramatic, so I picked up my favorite Teal cardstock and paired it with gold mirror cardstock to create my card today.

The SDOTM makes a mini slimline size card – perfectly sized for the envelope dies that come with July’s Large Die of the Month (which I’ll feature here on the blog tomorrow). It also features interconnecting frames so you can choose one, some or all of the frames for different looks.

For my card today, I included all of the frames. I like to get them all lined up and then tape together, and run through the Platinum 6 in one go (for each color). If you do one by one, you can lose that nice bevelled look as subsequent runs through the machine will flatten earlier cuts. So I used the first 3 frames (2 outer and the scroll centre) o the teal, then the centre two frames for the sentiment with the Gold Mirror.

I used some dark ink to edge the outside of the teal frame and then some metallic gold thread to add stitched gold highlights around the edge. I simply taped the thread end on the back. I love adding little details like this. I adhered all of the pieces with glue to a white notecard 6.75″ x 6.5″, scored in half on the longer side. I trimmed the corners too for a little fun.

To embellish, I used coordinating teal and gold cardstock to create little flowers (using the dies in the Large Die of the Month), and curling up the petals for dimension. I also added lots of the Fashion Gold embellishments onto the scrollwork.

As I mentioned, I paired it with the coordinating envelope from the LDOTM. The stamp is from the Clear Stamp of the Month. Join me tomorrow where I’ll show you these sets in more detail!
