Hi everyone!

Spring is coming! And what better way to welcome it with the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month which features a fabulous interative pull feature that you can build into your cards to make the cute critter (or really, any die cuts you use!) sway from side to side.

I wanted to do all of the little critters included in the die set – there’s a chick, a bunny and a lamb (and I’m sure there are other animals you could make with a little imagination!). Choose your colors, arrange their arms and adhere them in the pose you like! There’s even a cute little egg for the chick. Spellbinders has a great video over on its YouTube showing you how the mechanisms work to make these dies interactive.

I created a little pink bunny, yellow chick with shell and pale brown lamb following the direction. I also created two flowers using purple and gold mirror cardstock for the floral. The sentiment has ‘hello’ and ‘spring’ or ‘peeps’ which of course is the one I went for. I die cut it three times from white cardstock and once from gold mirror and adhered them together.

I created my background using some watercolor look paper from an older Spellbinders card kit, adhered to white cardstock. I then used the triple hole to create my lever mechanisms and adhered the brads and then the critters over the top. I added clouds die cut from white cardstock.

To hide the mechanism I used another piece of watercolor-look paper from the same pad, on cardstock and die cut it with the grass die, to create a grass line approx 1 3/4″ up from the bottom. I adhered it to the front of my panel with a strip of foam tape, slipping it under the critters feet. I then repeated it again to create a smaller strip to add dimenison. I also used the same paper to cover over the lever to blend in more with the scene.

To finish, I adhered the ‘hello peeps’ sentiment to the front along with the two flowers, and I added a chipboard bow to the bunny. Love how pulling the lever makes these little guys dance!

  1. Cute, cute, cute! I love these little baby animals, and I’m usually a flower or graphics person. What you did with them is just adorable. I’ve followed you on Insta for a while, but am new to your blog and loving it. Thank you for some great work and ideas.
