Hi everyone!

The days and nights are starting to get chilly here! I went outside to pick up my daughter’s school folder with the next week’s worth of work and it was sleeting – I will say, I was glad for my face mask – an upside is it kept my face lovely and warm!

Today I’m featuring the Watercolor Garden Layering Die from the recent Altenew release. This is another really huge die set – the layers come grouped together and the layering guide makes it really easy to put together. I decided to make it even easier by die cutting all of the image from Jet Black cardstcock, and then paint them with Metallic Watercolors.

You don’t need special watercolor cardstock to use the Metallic watercolors if you only use a small amount of water. As you can see, the colors show up beautifully. I used three different shades of pink and purple for the flowers, gold and pearl for the centres and green for the leaves. I also splattered some of the gold and white paint over all the painted pieces. When dry, I built up the flowers using foam squares to adhere the layers.

I dry embossed a panel of 80lb white cardstock with the Flowers & Leaves 3D embossing folder and splattered with some black ink. I then built my florals, first adding the blooms with foam tape, then popping the leaves in behind with liquid glue. I also added some clear drops to look like glistening dew drops. To finish I added an Essential Sentiment Strip die cut in Jet Black and layered on top of a white strip to finish.

I created more flowers than I could use on the card itself, so I created a second card with the leftovers.

For the background, I die cut the new Lacy Panel Cover die from Metallic Gold cardstock which I mounted onto an A2 panel of Spicy Yoghurt cardstock with thin foam strips I added around the edge of the square.

I popped the flowers on top of the panel with foam squares and included some stalks, letting. them overhang the panel. I finished with a sentiment embossed in white on black cardstock to keep it simple!

Stay warm everyone!
