It’s my lovely friend Vanessa at Butterfly Reflections Ink‘s birthday!! A bunch of us are celebrating along with her today and having a birthday hop! The full hop is over on Instagram so be sure to head over to my IG and you’ll see my card and the next stop on the hop. I’m also sharing my card here today.

Vanessa is also sharing a promo for her birthday!

For my card today, I decided to break out the Altenew Small Moments stamp and die. This is such a teeny little set, but has SO MANY THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH IT! I brain stormed it a while ago and had about ten different ideas. Today I decided to repeat heat emboss it on colored vellum. I had some blue vellum on my craft desk and grabbed that. BRI carries the gorgeous Lawn Fawn Pearlescent Vellum which I had some of and ran out – it would have been perfect for this card.

I randomly stamped the snowflake all over the panel in embossing ink and then heat embossed it in WOW! Metallic Silver. This would also look gorgeous in Metallic Silver Sparkle or Gold. I trimmed down the panel to 4″ x 5.25″ and trimmed off the corner at an angle.

To adhere it, I used Kool-Tak Clear Foam Adhesive which is clear but still adds dimension. I added strips along the areas where there was embossing to ensure it was fully hidden.

For my main focal snowflake, I first die cut the snowflake from white cardstock, then coated it in embossing ink and heat embossed it in WOW! Metallic Silver. I repeated this three more times, and on that last pass, quickly pushed the stamp into the still hot embossing powder, and held it there. When it cools, you can lift off the stamp and you get this gorgeous embossed design. I have never had this burn my stamps or damage them but just be careful. The trick is to ensure you add enough pressure immediately and stamp straight after heating all the layers.

I popped that main snowflake up on foam squares into the centre. I then heat embossed the sentiment from the stamp set in WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder onto black cardstock, trimmed it out and adhered with foam tape also.

To embellish, I used Nuvo Glitter Drops in Dazzling Blue and Nuvo Jewel Drops in Sea Breeze, added to the centres of the snowflakes. I also scattered some snowflake sequins I’ve had in my stash for years!

Be sure to head on over to IG to hop along. I’ve linked the supplies below. Have fun!
