Hi Everyone!

I’m still totally in love with the fun Toucan Do It stampset from the latest Tropical Treasures release by Catherine Pooler Designs. I just love the cute design and punny sentiments! I have a card today that features another ink painted bird, and also how to use the new coverplate die as a stencil.

I created the little parrot and blossoms by stamping them in Midnight ink onto Premium White cardstock and then using my inks to color them in with a Zig Blender pen. Just smush the inks onto a craft mat and then pick them up with the pen and color! You can get some really fun blends like I did on his tail and wing feathers! For the parrot I used Flirty Fuchsia and All That Jazz. I used Party Dress on the flowers and Limey Rickey / Over Coffee for the branches and leaves. I die cut them all out with their co-ordinating dies.

I created the background by first die cutting the Chevron coverplate from thick white cardstock. I then taped it over a panel of Premium White cardstock and using a blender brush, blended Rockin’ Red, Party Dress and Flirty Fuchisa over the panel (bottom to top). I then lifted the stencil, shifted it so that the chevrons aligned and did the same again. You’re left with a panel that looks like my background. You could totally shift it twice more to cover the entire panel. I added some splatters with Midnight ink mixed with a little water to add some interest!

The sentiment is from the set (I LOVE IT!) and was heat embossed on Midnight cardstock in WOW! Bright White embossing ink, and trimmed out with a banner point to the right. I adhered the sentiment first, then popped the flowers and bird around the sentiment on foam squares.

To finish, I scattered some Miami sequins, and added some Morning Dew (clear) Nuvo Drops (as well as on the bird’s beak for shine). I popped it all onto a white notecard.

I love bright and happy cards don’t you!?
