Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re all having an enjoyable week! I can’t believe it is almost March – where does the time go? While it has remained pretty chilly here in New York, the sun has been bright and shining most days, which really helps to blow away the cobwebs and lighten the mood don’t you think?

Today I have a card for you that I created playing with the Hedgehog Hollow February Card kit.  I gave a quick sneak of it in the the video – you can check out the Guest post for HH here if you missed it.  The kit is bee themed, but I wanted to see if I could do something a bit different, so I created a butterfly card!

To create my card I backed a sheet of the Elizabeth Craft Designs cardstock that came in the kit with the self adhesive sheets also in the kit.  I then trimmed down a panel to 4″ x 5.25″ and scattered the black microfine glitter from the kit all over the panel.  I burnished it with my bone folder to remove any remaining glitter and voila! Homemade black glitter cardstock!

I trimmed the panel approximately a third of the way down and adhered the smaller piece to a white card base with foam tape.  I stamped my sentiment from the set in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  It originally said ‘Bee Mine’ but as I didn’t have a bee on my card, I did a little stamp surgery and trimmed out the extra E.  You can always add this back in at a later time if you want to.  I then trimmed a little off the rest of the black glitter panel to keep a border on the notecard and adhered it with foam tape.

For the butterfly, I die cut the bee wings from the kit and then ink blended purple inks by Catherine Pooler (I used Sweet Sixteen and Pixie Dust) onto them. I also flicked a little bit of water onto the wings for a distress look.  I then adhered them with foam squares, with three under the wing tips and one towards the body centre for dimension.   As a finishing touch, I added some Fairy Wings Nuvo Dream Drops.

How do you like it?
