Hi Everyone!
As promised, I created a video showing you how to use embossing glitter and paste with your watercolor powders and stencils, to create stunning shimmery cards that have a real wow factor. The video includes three cards, one of which I featured on my blog last week (see here).
You can access the video here or over on my YouTube channel:
The first card features Bo Bunny Glitter Paste in Sugar and Nuvo Shimmer Powders.
I used the Captivating Mandala by My Favorite Things, and the Thanks die is by Catherine Pooler Designs.
My second card features Faber Castell Texture Luxe Pearl embossing paste and Paperartsy Infusions with a dash of Perfect Pearls for some shimmer.
The stencil is the Marching Leaves by Catherine Pooler Designs and the Grateful die is by Simon Says Stamp, created with vellum and Sand Dunes cardstock.
I adore this technique, and am still playing with it – hopefully this gives you some ideas. Some tips for the technique:
- Use watercolor cardstock.
- Use spray temporary adhesive like Krylon Easy-tac to avoid seepage of water under the stencil.
- Use your heat tool to slightly dry the piece before removing the stencil (but make sure to then immediately clean the stencil).
- Use lots of water and be sparing with the powder.
- When using a paper towel, be careful not to smush the embossing paste medium.
- Use a clear or white medium for the best effect – you could also use Nuvo Glitter Paste in Moonstone or embossing paste in white or clear.
I hope you like this and it inspires you to play with your stash!
