Hi Everyone!
I have a fun technique today which layers different glitter pastes over each other. I have been a huge hoarder of glitter paste ever since Tonic Studios released the Nuvo glitter pastes. I have since expanded my collection with all of the Bo Bunny colors, and recently Brutus Monroe brought out their range of Glitter Glaze which I was itching to try. By layering the paste, you can play with more colors and get some fun effects too!
My card today was created for the current Time Out Challenge – Home Sweet Home photo inspiration, which is sponsored by Altenew. Be sure to link up over on the TO blog, and check out our fun new look!!
I also created a video showing how I made this card. You can check it out on my YouTube channel here:
To create my card, I first used the Brutus Monroe Glitter Glaze in Unicorn Horn with the Classy Stripes Altenew stencil. I used 110lb white cardstock for extra sturdiness, which is needed when doing a couple of layers of paste.
Compared to other glitter pastes, the BM glaze is much lighter – it went on really easily with great coverage and a little goes quite a long way. It also seems to leave a subtle colored paste with the glitter embedded in it, rather than pure glitter like the Nuvo or Bo Bunny. I really like it – the photos don’t do the sparkle justice!
I set aside the piece to fully dry (important) and then applied a second layer of Glitter Paste with the Altenew Leaf Burst stencil. I lined up the pattern with the centre stripe of the first paste layer, and used Bo Bunny Glitter Paste in Wasabi. Bo Bunny Glitter Paste is much sandier in texture, and you need quite a lot to cover the full card, but it is so so sparkly!! I then set aside the panel to dry again.
The die sentiment is Altenew’s Miss You die cut from red craft self adhesive fun foam, which I adhered directly to the embossed panel. I then die cut the sentiment again from white cardstock and adhered it (slightly offset) over the red foam, with liquid adhesive.
The sentiment on the strip is from Altenew’s Dearest Friend, heat embossed in white onto Schoolhouse Red Simon Says Stamp cardstock, and popped up on foam tape.
The inspiration photo is below – my card uses the pop of red from the cushions / bow in the photo, the green wreath and the grey striped throw!

Wow I read how you did this and you are so patient and so skilled! This paste really looks stunning and built up like this gives so much texture and all that shine! I really like the offset sentiment and popping the small panel up like this adds to the dimension even more. I love it x
Such stunning shimmer and shine, Jenny … the layering of the glitter pastes adds such awesome dimension! Enjoyed seeing it all come together! Hugs, Anita 🙂
Hi Jenny. I am sorry i’ve been a little absent on the commenting scene… it’s a little crazy around here. This is absolutely gorgeous. I love all that stripe and sparkle, and I love the way you staggered the red and white die cut sentiments. The blog looks fantastic. What a great job you did with it. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving. I love that day best of all. May yours be warm and peaceful and fun..
