Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone is having a great week – it’s late evening here in New York and I can hear the thunder starting to rumble outside – I hope it all clears for the weekend. I’m going to be attending the INTHEMKING festival with a few of my fellow Creative Teamies! So excited!
My cards today show you two different ways to use the fab Shapeabilities Snowflake Doily Etched Dies by Spellbinders, from the Becca Feeken A Charming Christmas collection. This die set comes with several nested layers that you can use for different looks. It also comes with three charm dies – a bell, a snowflake and a star.
For my first card, I die cut the main outline die and the largest detail die from black cardstock three times and adhered them all together using spray adhesive directly onto another layer cut using just the main outline die.
I then die cut the main detailed die a further twice from DCWV matte glitter cardstock (rose gold and pink) and inlaid all of the pieces using liquid adhesive, using pink in the small parts and rose gold in the larger pieces. I also die cut the star charm from silver matte glitter cardstock and adhered it to the centre.
I adhered the entire piece to a square white notecard, however you could easily put a hole throught the top, add thread and tie to your Christmas tree or use as a decoration! I stamped a sentiment in black ink, trimmed it out and added to the centre (popped up on foam tape).
To embellish the piece I used Nuvo Glitter drops in Ruby Slippers and Night Sky, adding drops in areas that I thought complemented the pattern of the die. I also added Nuvo Crystal Glaze into the heart and dew drop shaped wells in the pattern to give an ‘enamel’ type feel.
For my second card, I die cut the outline from grey cardstock, which I then spritzed liberally with Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz. I die cut the main detailed die from light pink glitter cardstock, keeping some of the pieces in the die cut itself. I then layered the two together with spray adhesive (I use Krylon).
I used the inner die from the set to trim out the centre – I love how it cuts out the heart shapes! I added the die cut to a white notecard with foam squares, slightly going off the edge, which I then trimmed off.
To embellish, I kept it simple, adding Ruby Slippers and Silver Moondust Nuvo Glitter Drops. I also added Crystal Glaze over a stamped sentiment for extra shine.
Two very different looks with the same die I’m sure you’ll agree. I really love how these dies can be used in so many different ways – and while this is a Christmas die, I made very non-Christmassy cards!
