Hi Everyone!

I was over on the Spellbinders FSJ YouTube Channel yesterday featuring the brand new Clear Stamp of the Month. This is the first time it has been offered and for the inaugural stamp set there is a gorgeous Christmas Gem image, complemented with some pretty branches, flowers and scripty / small sentiments.

I created two very different cards featuring the stamp, and the video can be found here:

My first card features some creative cutting to make a custom shaker window.

  • Trim an A4 sheet of pale gray cardstock such as Tin Pail by FSJ in half lengthways.  Score at 5.5” to create a top folding cardbase.  Trim the second half in two and die cut one panel with the largest rectangle from the Nestabilities Essentials Rectangles.
  • Heat emboss the gem image from the FSJ Christmas Gem stamp set with Silver embossing powder.
  • Using a craft knife, trim out the centre of the gemstone to create a window and adhere acetate to the back with liquid glue.
  • Use foam tape to create a well at the back, and add silver and snowflake sequins.
  • Add the remaining piece of gray cardstock to the back, trimmed slightly smaller than the embossed panel and add the shaker panel to the folded card base.
  • Use blue / gray colored pencils and  white gel pen to color  in some of the flowers and berries.
  • Emboss the ‘From All Of Us’ sentiment in Silver EP on black cardstock, trim out and adhere with foam.

My second card uses heat embossing layering with just one of the image stamps to create a forest frame for the sentiment, with some added snow!

  • Trim an A4 sheet of dark green cardstock in half lengthways.  Score at 5.5” to create a top folding cardbase.  Trim the second half in two.
  • Using the branch stamp from the FSJ Christmas Gem set, stamp around the edge of the green panel to create a border around all four sides using pigment or embossing ink.   Heat emboss  with Copper embossing powder.
  • Repeat this step overlapping the branches in some places and heat emboss in gold embossing powder.
  • Stamp the Peace, Joy and Love sentiment  in  the centre and  heat  emboss in platinum embossing powder.
  • Use the largest rectangle from the Nestabilities  Essentials Rectangles and  die cut the entire heat embossed panel.
  • Ink blend dark green ink over the heat embossing in towards the centre and then edge in dark grey ink.  Add splatters of shimmer spray  and white paint.
  • When dry,  mount  with craft foam  onto the card base.  Add Fashion Silver embellishments in the branche to finish.

You can see more inspiration using the new stamp set over on the Spellbinders Blog.
