Hi Everyone!

I have a couple of cards to share with you today that use the Spellbinders Stephanie Low’s Inked Messages A Little Birdie Told Me stamp and die set.   I adore Stephanie’s style – she’s a tattoo artist, and this image in particular is such a perfect classic tattoo style.  I myself have a few tattoos and maybe one day I’ll have a Stephanie Low 🙂

My first card mimics the classic colors for the bird image that I have seen on vintage tattoo photos.  I stamped the bird in waterproof Versafine Onyx Black ink, and I also stamped the tiny envelope image several times, onto bright white cardstock.  I colored them in with Tombow markers (with a little clear Wink of Stella on the bird for a little sparkle), blending out with the Tombow blender pen.  I also stamped and colored the sentiment which is from the Spellbinders Stephanie Low Yarn stamp and die set.

I die cut out the bird with the co-ordinating die, and fussy cut out the envelopes (there is a co-ordinating die for the envelope, but I didn’t want a border for this technique).  For my card base, I adhered an A2 panel of black and white striped patterned cardstock (by Catherine Pooler Designs) directly onto a white notecard.  I popped the bird up in the centre with foam tape, and then added the envelopes directly behind the bird (and under its wings) using foam tape and liquid adhesive.  I also popped one up on foam tape hanging out of the bird’s mouth.

I die cut out the sentiment with the co-ordinating die and popped that up on foam tape too.  As a finishing touch, I scattered some clear confetti sequins from Studio Katia, and added some glossy accents on the hearts on the envelopes.

My second card uses the bird colored with Tombow markers again, but this time I used dark, medium and light grey colors only.  I also fussy cut it out to remove the border, and edged it with a black Memento marker.  The sentiment is from Spellbinders Stephanie Low One Day at at Time set, which I stamped in Versamark Onyx Black ink and die cut out with the co-ordinating die.

I created a card base from Midnight black cardstock by Catherine Pooler Designs, and dry embossed an A2 black card panel with the Spellbinders Royal Wings 3D embossing folder – it’s one of my all time favorites (and still available in their store for an AMAZING price) – I thought it was perfect for the tattoo feel of the Stephanie Low designs. I trimmed the embossed panel down 1/8th inch on each side, and adhered to the black card base to create a slim border.

I kept this card simple, and popped the bird and sentiment up on foam tape in the centre.

I hope you like my ideas for this image – I will be back again shortly with another card I created with the One Day at a Time set.  You can check out the links below for the supplies used.

Have a wonderful week !
