Hi Everyone!

Great news, Catherine Pooler Designs is releasing matching dies for the recently released Faithful Flutterings stamp set.  To celebrate, I’ve created a couple of cards showcasing the stampset and the new dies.

Card 1

My first card focuses on the largest of the butterflies, and uses the matching die to cut out a window showing the butterfly underneath.  It also features the Catherine Pooler Design Square Dance stencil.

To create the card, I stamped the large layered butterfly onto CPD Premium White cardstock, using CP Ink in Mint To Be (first layer) and Aquatini (second layer).  On my first layer I actually dabbed on some Aquatini on the tips of the wings with a dauber to get a graduated look.  The third layer was heat embossed with Rose Gold embossing powder (by The Ton Stamps).  I then die cut it out, and then I stamped the body of the butterfly in Midnight ink.  I find it much easier to get it lined up this way. I then set it aside.

For the front of the card, I used the Square Dance stencil, taped over a panel of Premium White cardstock, and pressed my Versamark ink pad over the top, then removed the stencil.  I heat embossed it with the same Rose Gold EP.  I then adhered it to a pale pink card base, and die cut out the butterfly from the front panel to create a butterfly shaped window. I folded the card base, and lined up the stamped butterfly over the window, then adhered it over the window using foam tape.  This enables the front panel to lift up but you can also slot it in under the butterfly’s wings to ensure it stays closed.

To finish the card, I heat embossed a sentiment from the stamp set in white EP on black cardstock and adhered it with foam tape either end of the sentiment across the butterfly’s wing.  (Be careful not to adhere it to the butterfly itself). I scattered some co-ordinating sequins (by Little Things by Lucy).

Card 2

My second card layers the two butterflies on the front of a card, and each are used as a sentiment ‘panel’.

To create the card, I die cut the Stained Glass coverplate die from a background I’d created a while ago with CP inks. I sprayed it with adhesive and adhered it over a panel of glitter white card stock, and then adhered to a white card base.

I stamped each of the butterflies on CP Premium White cardstock using three shades of CP purple ink, light to dark, and then die cut them out.  Quick tip:  heat set in between each color – this stops the colours blending together to get crisp defined layers.

I stamped the sentiments from the co-ordinating set onto the butterfly wings in Midnight and the body of the butterfly in All That Jazz. I popped them up on foam tape, slightly overlapping, with a double layer of foam tape on the smaller butterfly.

Some other members of the Creative Team will also have some cards coming up using the new dies – be sure to check them out!
