Hi Everyone!

I’ve just started my first class (Easy Ink Blending) over at the Altenew Academy and wanted to share the card I created.  There were so many great techniques featured in this class – I wanted to do a full panel ink blend with an ombre feel, to really showcase the blend (and also give my arms a workout).  I also used ink blending to actually color in the images featured on the card.

To create my card, I used a panel of Canson XL watercolor cardstock and blended the following Altenew inks, starting with the lightest: Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, Ruby Red and Grapevine. They blend perfectly on this cardstock (great tip from the class – I usually use Bristol Smooth). I blended the Frosty Pink first, up from the bottom, getting lighter towards the top of the panel.  I then moved to Coral Berry and blended it from the bottom again but stopped about a third of the way from the top.  I then blended Ruby Red and finally Grapevine which i just focused towards the bottom.

Instead of flicking water on the panel to add texture, I used Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz in Frost, which gives the spatter look like water, but with a bit of subtle sparkle.  I then die cut the panel with the Altenew Dotted Scales Debossing Cover die for some texture.   The panel was adhered to a Neenah Solar White card base with craft foam.

I didn’t want to cover up the ink blended background too much, so I used the Altenew Thank You die as the focal point. I die cut it four times from white cardstock, stacked them together (adhered using spray adhesive) and adhered to the front of the panel.

The butterflies are from the Altenew set Bamboo Roses.  To create them I heat embossed the images with WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing powder and die cut them out.  I then used mini ink daubers to blend Simon Says Stamp Sunshine ink on the edges, and then Altenew Coral Berry in the centre, gently blending in the centre. I flicked some water onto the images for interest and popped them up on foam tape onto the card panel.

As a finishing touch, I scattered some sequins on the card in co-ordinating colours (Little Things by Lucy mixes in Flamingo and Just Peachy), including on the word stack itself.

Hope you like it, have a wonderful day!

Jenny
