Hi everyone and welcome to DAY 1 of the Catherine Pooler Designs All That Jazz release blog hop.  You should have landed here from Melissa’s blog.  I’m so excited, you’re going to LOVE this release.  It includes some fabulous background stamps, stampsets, dies including some awesome word dies (literally), stencil and PAPER!! Gorgeous black and white paper (super high quality), Sand Dunes cardstock and vellum. If you get lost along the way, the full list of links, as well as supplies can be found at the bottom of this post.

I’ve been lucky enough to get inky with the new stuff for a couple of weeks now, and today I have three cards to share with you.  Remember, leave a comment to be in with a chance to win!  5 random winners will be chosen to receive two free ink pads (and free shipping!)  The winners will be announced on Friday, March 23.

Card 1

My first card was created using the stunning Grateful Heart stampset and matching dies.  I stamped all of the images in Catherine Pooler Midnight ink (copic friendly) and colored them in BG, V, and B copics, and added clear Wink of Stella. I then die cut them out and set them aside.

To create the background, I taped a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock trimmed to an A2 size card panel and then taped down the new Square Dance stencil over the top.  I used a mini ink blending tool to blend Catherine Pooler Aquatini and Mint To Be ink from the bottom left corner out, fading out towards the right.  Without removing the stencil, I then used a palette knife to smooth Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone over the whole panel. I removed the stencil and left it to dry.

When dry, I adhered the panel to a 110lb card base and arranged the die cut florals over the top. When I had them in an arrangement I liked, I used press n seal to lift up the pieces, flip them over to add adhesive (and foam squares for some dimension) then adhered them back down to the panel.  The sentiment is from the Leaf Motifs stampset from the recent Counting Blessings Stamp of Approval collection.  I heat embossed it in white onto a scrap of black cardstock and adhered it to the florals.  To finish, I scatted some black sequins.

Card 2

I wanted to really showcase the new scripty word dies on these next two cards.  My first uses the Wonderful die to create a shaker.

It’s a really clean and simple design but I will say it was quite fiddly to create! I die cut the wonderful die from an A2 panel of Catherine Pooler Premium White cardstock, and again from an A2 panel of craft foam. I adhered some acetate to the back of the card panel with liquid glue, and then the craft foam behind it with the same glue. I then created some custom colored cardstock by rubbing Catherine Pooler inks over white cardstock in Rockin Red, Tiara, All That Jazz, Lime Rickey, Flirty Fuchsia, Be Mine (from this year’s Stamp of Approval), and Tutti Fruitti.

I die cut the colors using the tiny hearts from the Tags, Etc dies.  I also die cut the tiny stars from gold mirror cardstock. I then placed each one in the shaker ‘well’ behind the Wonderful word (making sure the colored side was facing the window) and adhered white cardstock over the top to close the shaker.  I rounded the corners and popped the piece up onto a white card base.  I stamped You from the Catherine Pooler Autumn Blessings stamp set in Midnight ink and adhered a few hearts to the front to finish.

Card 3

This time I’m showcasing the new Awesome die, and some of the fab patterned paper.

Using the Rockin Red cardstock i created for Card 2, I added some faded out ink towards the top of the red and then die cut using the Awesome die, and cut it again from fun foam and adhered them together.   I heat embossed the You Are from the Autumn Blessings stampset in gold embossing powder onto a scrap of white cardstock, and adhered a strip of custom Rockin red card to the back of it at a jaunty angle.

I die cut the houndstooth black and white paper using the large tag die from Tags, Etc, and the tag hole from the custom red cardstock which I adhered onto the tag.  I threaded some gold braid through the top and then popped the whole tag using foam tape onto a white card panel trimmed down to slightly smaller than A2.  I adhered the awesome die over the tag, and the You Are over the top on foam tape. To co-ordinate with the gold embossing, I adhered 5 gold stars (left over from my shaker card) and popped the whole panel onto a white card base.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of this new release and what you can do with it – we have two more days of blog hops to follow, and I’ll have lots more cards and a video coming very soon showing some more ways to use the stencil, and other sets from the release.  Enjoy your hop – your next stop is the awesome and wonderful Karen.

  16. Oh iam so pleased I don’t need to pick a favourite as I just couldn’t, the colour of the flowers on the first card are gorgeous and using the stencil really makes them pop especially with the paste over it. (I might pinch that idea lok) the script font words really are a must for any card maker and are certainly on my with list. I will leave the shaker card to you professional’s to do as I know I’m not good enough to do them yet. I still admire other people’s though. Thankful for you being the hop. Xxx 💚 xxx

  17. I liked the use of the Square Dance Stencil and the way you used two inks to give the look of a two tone background for your 1st card.

  18. Fun and beautiful cards! I love the mint and purple color combo (of course the touch of glimmer is gorgeous). The second is simple, bright and happy. The third is classic and clean.

  19. Love each and every one of your cards…. Shaker cards are my favorite of all to make. The colors on your first card are so pretty. I love blues and purples together. and your third card is very cute.. tyfs

  20. The black sequins are very interesting. I don’t think I have ever seen them used like this, but I like it! And those teeny tiny hearts–absolutely wonderful in a shaker. So much fun. And I am lovin’ the black and white houndstooth check. It looks great with the red–classic!

  21. Jenny, all three cards are beautiful but the first one is my favorite. Thank you for providing inspiration.

  23. What beautiful cards you create.d! The shaker is just so vibrant and fun and the background on the first card is just gorgeous.

  24. What great ideas! I don’t know that I would have thought to use that bold stencil under the flowers, but in the Moonstone shimmer paste, it’s so gorgeous and delicate. The shaker is lovely; very modern with the white-on-white and just the shaker elements to help see the word. And then I do love a good houndstooth print. I think the little gold stars really make that one shine. Thanks for sharing such lovely ideas with us!

  25. I’m loving that square dance stencil! I have never used the nuvo glimmer paste. I am intrigued!

  26. Beautiful cards and just my style!! I love your use of those script dies and the beautiful Grateful Heart set as well. Gorgeous!!

  27. That square dance stencil is really nice — but you really amped it up with glitter and color. GORGEOUS!

  28. I am surprised at how effective your card was as a shaker. In fact this is the first shaker that I want to make, because it stands out and makes the the word mean more, “awesome” “wonderful” are both great additions I would enjoy using on a regular basis.

  29. I really like the subtle textured background. Just enough intensity to be seen, but not be the focus of the card. Great job!

  30. All are beautiful. Especially like the stencil background on the first card and the lovely color combination.
