Hi Everyone!

I have another card to share with you today featuring Spellbinders October 2022 Clubs – this time I’m featuring the Large Die of the Month “Stitched Ornament Display“. This set can be used to add a featured large bauble on the front of a card, or if you use the additional pieces in the set, create an entire 3D hanging frame for the ornament. I typically like to pare down the more complex dies like this one to feature just the decorative element on a card, but I decided this time to go and make the whole thing! It’s much easier than it looks. You can check out the entire process video from Spellbinders here, if you’re looking for the step-by-step how to create with this die set.

I pretty much stuck to the overall formula followed in the video. I did use Lilac Blossom cardstock for the main frame, and i dry embossed it with the Embossing Folder of the Month “Scattered Christmas”. I dry embossed not only the background (approx 5″ wide x 6″ high) but also the border pieces that add the dimension simply by die cutting them first, then running through my Platinum 6 with the embossing folder.

I also added gold ink spray, purple metallic ink spray and white ink spray onto the back panel to tie in a little of yesterday’s Spellbinders cards theme 🙂 I created my frame, choosing to add the front brackets with a little Brushed Gold metallic cardstock.

On the bauble, I die cut the two main panels from Wild Berry and Dahlia cardstocks. I added gold stitching with DMC gold thread then adhered the two together. I added details die cut from Brushed Gold cardstock, and added a few Fashion Gold Embellishments over the stitching.

Using the ‘string’ die cut from Brushed Gold, I anchored the ornament into my frame. For embellishment, I added a few poinsettias, die cut from the same colors as the ornmanet, adding a Fashion Gold to the centre. I die cut some holly leaves from white cardstock, and some ferns and berry twigs from Royal Amethyst cardstock. I arranged them around the frame with glue, adding a few Brushed Gold ‘berries’ here and there.

To finish, I added one of the sentiments from the Small Die of the Month, layered with white and Brushed Gold cardstock.
