Hi Everyone! Today is normally the release of Altenew’s Build-A-Flower! However it is now Build-A-Garden day! It is still Altenew’s gorgeous layering blooms that you know and love, but this month it’s an outline stamp with a layering stencil (and mini blending brush) called ‘Magnificent Branch’ and it is stunning! Hopefully you were sent my way by Carol Hintermeier but if not, I highly recommend heading on over to the Altenew Card Blog to start at the beginning of today’s hop.

Love genuinely, and bloom with grace. Create two card fronts at once with this first-of-its-kind floral stamp set! The imaginative set features a magnificent tree branch bearing flowers that you wouldn’t normally see together in nature. Cut the design just right for a card featuring the cupped rose and another card featuring the flat rose. Stamp the heartwarming sentiments and quotes to inspire your loved ones. We hope you love this stamp set as much as we do!

Here’s a closer look at the new release as its the first of its kind!!

Enjoy our Build-A-Garden project set, an exciting monthly package that is sure to get the creative juices flowing! Each month includes a stamp set along with a coordinating stencil set and/or die set PLUS a customer-favorite Mini Blending Brush! Build your collection of brushes from month to month so you will never be left looking for the perfect tool while crafting.
This set contains the following products:
– one 6″ x 8″ stamp set containing 10 stamps made in the USA from high-quality photopolymer
– one layering stencil set containing 4 stencils that coordinate with the stamp set
– one Mini Blending Brush for ink blending
Note: These products are NOT sold separately.

I wanted to feature that gorgeous large bloom on my card as the focal point. It layers beautifully with the stencil, and I wanted this time to go for a bold outline, so I stamped my image with Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink onto Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock first.

I then overlaid the layering stencils in turn and using the ink blending tool, started adding my colors. For the main rose I used Baby Pink, Fuchsia and Ultraviolet Crisp Dye inks. On the last one I accidentally forgot to wipe off the Fuchsia so I got a fun blend of Ultraviolet and Fuchsia which I really liked! For the leaves, I used Lagoon and Misty Morning inks. I used Mocha for the branch, blending more heavily where it touched the floral for shading. I then fussy cut out the flower and set aside. (By the way, as I knew I wasn’t using much past the end of the main branch I didn’t color in the whole image – but you totally could, then get two cards for the price of one!)

For my background, I used the Chevron Background Hot Foil Plate hot foiled in a pink shattered foil onto glossy white cardstock (an older color from Crafters Companion). I then adhered the floral over the top with foam tape and trimmed off the excess.

I stamped the sentiment in Obsidian Pigment ink and popped it on top. I just love this font – it looks handwritten! I finished with a few sparkling clear confetti sequins here and there to finish.
