Hello crafty friends – how has your week been so far? How about we brighten it up today and showcase some new Gina K Designs goodies? Yes!

Gina has a whole new release LIVE right now! I’m featuring the pretty Whimsy and Wonder stamp and cooordinating die set, illustrated by Lisa Hetrick.

This is a really fun set with tons of solid images, as well as outline stamps. One of. my favorite techniques to do with large solid stamps is to double stamp with darker inks to create a sort of ombre look. I did that with both the background polka dot stamp, and the floral solid filler to create my card.

I stamped that large stamp first on to white cardstock using a pale blue ink using my MISTI. Without moving the stamp, I restamped it with a slightly darker ink, fading up about half way using a sponge ink dauber to daub out the harsh lines on the stamp before stamping. I repeated this one more time with a darker blue ink which you can see peeping out at the base.

I stamped the main flower with Obsidian Amalgam Ink, as well as the two outline leaf images. I then filled in the floral with solid pink ink, and restamped with a darker pink.

I decided to add some details to the flower using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, adding feathering in a darker pink/purple to add contrast. I also colored the stem and all of the leaves with greens and yellows, then die cut out the pieces.

I die cut out the vase without stamping it using Vellum backed with double sided adhesive. I adhered this over the main stem of the flower and then added foam squares to the back, popping it up onto the stamped panel. I arranged the leaves around the vase. I also added a heart stem from the stamp set, stamped in yellow and dark yellow. This added a nice pop of color to the background.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder on black cardstock and popped it over the top, finishing with some yellow enamel dots to tie in with the heart. I also added a few black ink splatters. For a little interest (although you can’t see it in the photo) I added some clear Wink of Stella to the base, as well as some Nuvo Glaze to the floral centre to finish.

I trimmed down the entire piece to 4 x 5.25 ” and adhered with foam tape to a notecard. Love this fun set – so versatile – there are lots of other images in the set I didn’t use – I’m excited to see what the other designers came up with!
