Hi Everyone! I’m excited to be joining Michelle Lupton today as part of her Case Me a Christmas Card series! This is where she CASE’s (Copy and Share Everything) a designer’s card, and we do the same with one of hers! You can check out Michelle’s CASE of one of my cards at this link here – please do head on over and share some love. Her cards are always fabulous and she has so much holiday cheer going on over there right now – I love this card series!
OK so onto my card. I saw this card of Michelle’s in her Instagram feed. I love how the ink blending has been applied AFTER the dry embossing, just around the edges, leaving the inside white. I decided to something similar, with some christmassy colors.
I chose the Altenew Perfect Poinsettias 3D embossing folder, a great one for a Christmas card. For the edges, I used Distress Inks, first blended fairly far in with Abandoned Coral, then a little darkening around the widest part of the blend with Crackling Campfire, and then finishing the edges with Aged Mahogany. I left the centre white like Michelle did, and I love how the blending picks up the outlines of the embossing folder. I’ll definitely be doing this again!
I added Altenew Antique Gold Metallic Spray splatters over the background for a little shine – love how this goes with the red! For my sentiment, I used the Altenew Christmas Season Die Set. I die cut it from both red self adhesive craft foam, and gold glitter cardstock, adhering them together.I love how the red peeps out don’t you! It was a simple matter to adhere it to the centre of my card slightly towards the bottom. I then mounted the panel onto a cardbase with foam tape and called it done.
I just love how this turned out – thank you Michelle for inspiring me to try this technique – I can’t believe I’ve not tried it before!
