Hello everyone!

I’m delighted to be part of a special blog hop today with Altenew, Celebrating Parents. Not only will today’s hop hopefully inspire you in your craft space, but it also has another aim. Altenew’s goal is to send cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes or shelters to let them know they’re not forgotten. I encourage you all to check out the Celebrating Parents Card Drive and join this great cause by sending in cards.

What a wonderful idea, and if that wasn’t all, Altenew has chosen a few Altenew products that are great for your Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards (and other year-round projects)!

Altenew will donate $1 with every order of the above stamp sets from 3/6/2021 until 5/31/2021 to the Food Bank of Central New York to support seniors in need.

You can find all the details on the hop stops as well as a giveaway at the end of this post. You can also always start over at the Altenew blog.

For my card today, I tried to create some layers using the Enchanted Roses stamp set, by applying it both using embossing powder over colored cardstock, and stamping it over ink blending. My process was as follows; I first took a panel of coral cardstock trimmed to 4.25 x 5.5″. I stamped the large floral from Enchanted Roses in embossing ink, then heat embossed it in Translucent Pear embossing powder, which has a lovely sparkle to it. This “traps” the colored cardstock beneath it, so if I color the rest of the cardstock, the coral color remains.

I ink blended several colors of corals, pinks and red from the edges in towards the centre, building up darker towards the edges. I used Pastel Sunrise (lightest), Coral Bliss, and Velvet. The embossing really shows up beautifully against the darker red. I buffed it off with a cloth to remove any ink laying on top of the blending.

I then placed the panel back in the MISTI and restamped twice the Enchanted Roses in a coordinating ink (I used Velvet again). I then added some splatters of water for good measure and adhered to a note card.

In the centre, I stamped the ‘For the New Mother’ in black Obidian Pigment Ink. Most of it will be covered so it didn’t matter if it didn’t stamp perfectly. I stamped the bouquet from the Celebrations stamp set in Pastel Sunrise and then die cut it with the coordinating die. I restamped the sentiment again over the top in black and then aligned it on my card so the senetiment appeared to line up with the bottom version, applying the bouquet with foam tape. I added some gold gel pen as embellishment, and a few gold sequins to finish.
