Altenew has absolutely knocked it out of the park with this month’s new Build-A-Flower!! It called to me, and I have three very different cards today that just show how beautiful the Bellaroma Hybrid Tea Rose is! This post is part of an Altenew Blog Hop with prizes! Stay tuned for more details. If you didn’t come here as part of the hop you can also head over to the Altenew Blog to start at the beginning!

For my first card, I decided to go for drama. I stamped the rose and the leaves in similar colors using the Fall Harvest set of inks and a black outline. In a few places I added a little more detail with an alcohol marker. I then die cut them out with the coordinating dies.

For my background I used a panel of Altenew Apple Red cardstock which I dry embossed with the Ornamental 3D Embossing Folder. I then added a little dark ink around the edges to deepen the red and emphasize the edges of the embossed image.

I mounted all of the rose and leaves over the panel with foam squares, and I also splattered a little white acrylic paint over the top. My sentiment was stamped in Obsidian Black Ink onto the same Red Apple cardstock, which I mounted in the centre. To finish I scattered a few red jewels for extra luxury!

I had a few of the leaves I’d colored left over. I stamped a few of the leaf outlines in white pigment ink onto a pale aqua card panel trimmed to 3.75″ x 5″, and added a few white acrylic paint splatters. I then mounted the left over leaves with foam squares over the top.

I heat embossed the sentiment in Pure White Crisp embossing powder and then mounted the panel onto a white notecard. I added a few sparkly white holographic enamel dots to finish and add subtle bling!

For my final card, I stamped the main rose flower in black ink and layered it with the Sugarplums range of purples. I then decided to spend a little time adding depth and shading with alcohol markers in more detail than before. It really adds a big difference. I also fussy cut out the rose to avoid leaving a white border and edged it with a black marker to tidy it up.

For my background I used a panel of kraft cardstock which I dry embossed with one of the Leaf Clusters from the Just Leaves dies. I also cut several more out using silver mirror cardstock which I mounted with foam tape onto the background. I stamped the ‘New Beginnings’ sentiment in black ink and then added a few white paint splatters. I mounted the rose in the centre and finished with a few dark sequins.
