Hi Everyone!

How are you all doing? I love it when the clocks go back as the mornings get lighter again, but I really do not love the dark coming so much earlier in the evening! My card today features the new Spellbinders Susan’s Autumn Flora Collection. These dies enable you to easily create super realistic looking leaves and flowers – and its a lot easier than it looks!

I’m using the Woodland Garden Leaves dies. These feature a variety of leaf types. and they’re very similar to those laying on my lawn right now (my daughter and I collected a few to be photo props!). I die cut them twice from Whip Cream cardstock and then colored them with Copics. I followed a long with Susan’s video which you can find on the Spellbinders YouTube channel on how to do this. It’s SO EASY! Here’s a look at the Copics I used:

I just plucked a bunch in a variety of leafy type colors. I the proceeded to scribble them all over the leaves, blending together vigorously on the cardstock. It bleeds a little and makes it look mottled which just adds to the realistic look! I also scribbled color on the back too.

I used my Tool ‘n One to draw veins on all the leaves, and then folded/curled the leaves a little with my fingers/tweezers to. given them a bit more dimension. I then set them aside.

For my base, I used an A2 panel of Whip Cream cardstock, and splattered it with gold spray and set aside to dry while I worked on the base for my leaf wreath.

My base is created using dark woodgrain cardstock which I die cut with the Nestabilities Essential Circles dies to create a wreath. I also used the etched dots circles as well as just the plain circular outline to add detailing that peeps through the leaves. I then used FSJ foam squares and added them to the wreath in different layers for dimension.

I used the Autumn Quotes clear stamp set from the same collection and stamped this beautiful (and so true) sentiment in FSJ Black Licorice ink onto the gold splattered panel, then adhered the wreath over the top using foam tape. I then mounted the entire panel onto a note card with foam tape, trimming the long edges very slightly.

As a finishing touch, I added some clear enamel drops onto some of the leaves to look like dew drops!

I just LOVE how this turned out. When I first saw this die set I never thought I’d be able to recreate the look Susan achieved and I am so pleased that I did. My daughter actually thought these leaves were real! Happy Fall!
