Hi all!
It’s time for Altenew’s Craft-A-Flower monthly release! I’m excited to be joining the CAF hop for first time and just loved playing with this month’s release – Poppy! If you landed here from the amazing Therese’s blog, you’re on the right track! Stay tuned for details of the giveaway and the next stops on today’ hop at the end of the post.
I create my own custom cardstock using Altenew inks by swiping the ink pad across Solar White cardstock, letting it dry, then die cutting it. For my first project I used Velvet, Crimson and Rouge for the petals (plus Jet Black for the centre), and Just Green and Minty Mint for the leaves.
I die cut the flowers as well as the Mid Century Frame die from gold mirror cardstock. I die cut a circle from a card base through the front, and then again through the back and adhered the frame.
I then created my poppies with liquid glue and adhered them over the circle frame, to give them the appearance of floating! I also scattered a few black jewels to tie in with the flower centre. I finished with a sentiment from the Blooming Mandala set stamped in Obsidian Black ink.
My next card uses a more traditional layout for the poppies, using the large stem included in the set. I used the same approach to coloring my cardstock, this time using Parrot and Moss for the leaves and the petals are Baby Pink, Fuchsia, and Magenta.
I die cut all the pieces as before (including the flower centres which are gold glitter cardstock. I arranged the pieces onto a panel of cardstock which I had decorated with the Castle Motifs stencil, spritzed with the Frosty Pink Shimmer spray.
The sentiment is again from the Blooming mandala stamped in Obsidian Ink onto the stenciled panel. I finished with some glitter Nuvo Drops and mounted the image onto a card base.

Great cards. Really like the second one.
Your cards are absolutely gorgeous. The Mid-Century Frame die on the first one is a beautiful background. I love the amazing Craft-A-Flower Poppy!
I really love the bling in your cards! I had to do a double take when I saw the first one. So wonderfully beautiful and stunning. Could be my favorite card today! Your second card is lovely and I love the sparkling center!
Beautiful poppies!! I especially like the red ones!!
Wow! Beautiful cards! The red poppies look gorgeous in front of the Mid-Century circle die! And, I love the glitter in the pink poppies’ centers!
You created two stunning cards but my favorite is the second one especially because of the saying….always follow your dreams. Very encouraging.
The color gradients you got on some of that red cardstock is beautiful. And the silver centers of the poppies on the second card just kill me.
