Hi everyone!

Today’s the day for the new Build-A-Flower from Altenew, and I think this might be one of my favorites ever! This month’s BAF is Hawaiian Coral and today we’re having a blog hop to provide you with some inspiration for creating with this beautiful bloom.

I have three very different projects to share, which show the versatility of this set. All the stops on the hop, and details on the giveaway can be found at the end of this post.

My first card uses the BAF set in the more traditional way, using all of the layers in turn to create each flower. I used the die in the set to create a mask using masking paper so that I. could stamp the image three times.

The first flower (and the one in the foreground) is the one at the base of the card. I stamped it directly onto an A2 panel of Spicy Yoghurt using Marigold, Snapdragon, Chamomile and Sunray for the petal layers. I then covered it with the mask and stamped the centre flower. I used Firebrick, Autumn Blaze, Orange Cream and Sunkissed. I applied the mask again and stamped the top flower, in the same colors as the first.

The leaves are stamped in Just Green Sweet Leaf and Minty Mint. The centres are Sicilian Amber and Espresso, and I also added a little fineliner to create contrast. Finally, I stamped the sentiment directly over the top in Obsidian Pigment ink and added a few coordinating Nuvo Jewel Drops to finish.

My next card features just the outline of the Hawaiian Coral. I stamped it onto cold press watercolor cardstock using Espresso ink for the main flower, and Hunter Green ink for the leaves. I then used the Altenew Artists Pan watercolors to paint the image, building up the layers to create contrast.

I die cut out the flower and the leaves (which I’d stamped three times) with the coordinating dies and set to one side. My background is a panel of watercolor cardstock that I added a wash of water over the top and then dropped in the same watercolors again as well as some Warm Sunshine Shimmer spray. When dry, I used the Leaf Drop Stencil with embossing paste and added some roughly to the centre of the panel. I trimmed it down to 4.25 x 5.5″ leaving the rough watercolor edges for a more distressed look.

I adhered the panel to a notecard and then popped the flower and leaves onto the panel with foam squares. To finish, I added a sentiment stamped in Espresso ink and scattered a few iridescent sequins.

My last card is a little crazy but I wanted to try it and I love the results! I heat embossed the outline image three times in Gold embossing powder onto patterned paper – I’m using the Altenew Celestial 6 x 6 pack which has gorgeous space and sky themed papers. I then die cut the images out.

I arranged the flowers onto a panel of Jet Black cardstock splattered with Antique Gold Shimmer spray. The sentiment was heat embossed on Jet Black and popped into centre. I also added some gold sequins to finish.
