Hi Everyone!
I’ve got something fun today – a collaboration with the wonderfully awesome and talented Ardyth. I got to know Ardyth during my time on Catherine Pooler’s design team, and we talked about doing a collab for SO long and couldn’t quite time it right. Well that time is here, and I’m super excited it finally worked out!
Ardyth is amazing at taking a stamp or die and looking at it in a different way to create something unique. I wanted to grab some of my Christmas stamps and dies and make some cards, but wasn’t quite in the christmassy spirit yet. So we decided to do a collab using christmas stamps and dies and show how they can be used in different ways!
You can check out my video here and over on my YouTube Channel. Ardyth’s can also be found over on her channel.
I feature three cards in my video. The first uses the Spellbinders Kaleidoscope Christmas Tree die. Take away the star tree topper part of the set and you have a cool triangle, great for making geometric patterns.
One of my top tips for using your Christmas stamps and dies for creating non-holiday cards is to use none-traditional Christmas colors. I’ve gone with very bright teals, pinks and yellows here.
I also made sure to use non holiday sentiments (kinda obvious but it helps point the dies or stamps away from a possible holiday vibe). I used Altenew Sentiment Strips 2 here.
This card is actually the biggest I’ve ever made – featuring an A7 panel on the front. I finished it with a bit of bling from my stash.
My second card is just traditional stamping. Again I use non-traditional colors, Rose Petals, Queen for a Day and Skylight inks from Catherine Pooler Designs. The stamp set is Tiny Wishes from Catherine Pooler Designs. It is a holiday themed set, but I just loved the images and thought they still worked well for a non-holiday card. When you dig through your stash, look closely at the images in the sets!
I filled the gaps in with the tiny diamond in the set – stamping it over and over again to fill. in the space. I really feel like this has a Liberty print vibe! I finished it with a Birchpress Designs Sugar Script Hugs die in the centre to tie in with some Antique Silver splatter I’d added!
My final card uses WPLUS9’s Christmas Rose stamp set. I thought coloring it with. more pinks and blues would move it away from a holiday theme – you probably have a few floral xmas stamps in your stash that you can do this with.
I heat embossed it twice on a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock in WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder.
I colored it with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a waterbrush, then added some more line stamping with colored inks to add dimension without layers (I used Stone Blue and It’s A Girl by CPD). My sentiment is by Spellinders Wedding Season by Nichol Spohr and gives this an anniversary or wedding type theme!
I hope this has inspired you to dig into your holiday stash and look for stamps or dies you can stretch to different looks for all year long!
Thank you to Ardyth for collaborating – be sure to check out her channel too!
