Hi everyone!

I’ve been really into ink blending recently ever since I got my new Waffle Flower Mini Water Media Mat. I bought it out of interest as I am always sticking Post-Its on my fingers to avoid the finger prints on full blended panels, and also to avoid the constant cleaning of large mats, (and my mat is black so hard to see ink I may have missed). But I wasn’t prepared for how much I would love it! I LOVE IT. My card stock does not shift, AT ALL when blending with my blender brushes. I can get a great sense of the brightness of the blend against white cardstock too as the mat itself is a bright white, and it’s easy to flip round to carry on my blend at a different angle. Did I mention I love it? I have stained it with pink ink but honestly that doesn’t bother me. I have had so much fun experimenting with differently inked backgrounds, and now I can turn them into cards. Here’s my first.

My ink blend combo is all Altenew inks. I start with the lightest first, so bottom to top – Honey Drizzle, Coral Berry, Magenta and Azurite. It reminded me of a sunset, so I splattered some white acrylic paint to look like stars. I then die cut it with a Craftin’ Desert Diva Fancy Frame then adhered it to a white card base.

On my card, I’m featuring the Lawn Fawn Really High Five. I stamped them all in Altenew Permanent Black Ink and colored them with my Copics. The Fox is YRs, the Bear is Es, and the Bunny and Mouse are Ws. I also colored the balloons with V and Y to match the background, as well as their hats and gifts to coordinate, with a touch of Clear Wink of Stella for sparkle.

I trimmed out the images with scissors and edged them all with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker to cover up any little mistakes. I adhered the hats on the bunny and the bear, and the gift on the fox. I used some DMC gold thread and adhered it with strong tape behind the balloons, then popped them onto my panel with foam squares. I popped the animals up on the panel so they looked like they were holding the thread from the balloons (on the bunny, I cut a small slit to slip it into his paws) and secured them with a little dab of glue.

To finish, the sentiments were heat embossed in WOW! Opaque Bright White Superfine embossing powder on black cardstock, trimmed and popped up on foam tape. I finished with a few Galaxy sequins by Little Things from Lucy’s Cards.

I just love how this turned out. And that’s two cute cards in a row from me – I think I’m starting to love coloring cute critters. – I can probably count on less than two hands the number of cute cards I’ve made in my card making career but it is a nice way to practice my coloring!
