Hi Everyone!
I’ve finally had some time to go back to my Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP) and I’ve moved onto Clean & Simple Boutique Cards. This style of card is one of my very faves – I’m a huge fan of one layer cards, and I often challenge myself to stay one layer instead of digging out the foam tape!
I decided to go for the one layer look for my AECP card submission. I spent a while choosing the right stamp(s) and color combination given they will be the focus. I decided to go for purple, pink and yellow – all Altenew Crisp Inks, in Wisteria, Butternut and Rose Quartz – all pale and co-ordinate well together.
I took a tip from the class and stamped directly onto the card base. Normally I use top folding cards but this time I used a side fold and I actually much prefer it! For some reason it ‘feels’ nicer. Go figure! I stamped my leaves, with some overlapping elements (tip from the class, to add dimension), using my MISTI. The leaves are from Wallpaper Art and Leaf Clusters – just the solid elements from the sets. I let the ink dry a few minutes before moving onto the next step.
I stamped the rectangle frame from Crystal Frames in Obsidian Pigment Ink directly over the top of the leaves, and then added the sentiment inside. I wasn’t sure whether to go for some gold accents, but in the end I opted for some doodles in the centre of the Wisteria leaves using a Micron pen, along with a few black ink splatters. I love the idea from the class for doing doodles on stamped images, and I cannot draw for toffee – but even I could manage a few lines!
I love how this turned out, so simple, and more time to be spent on the fun part of card-making – choosing the stamps and ink colors!
