Today is release day for the new Lemon Blossoms bundle from Alex Syberia Design! I’ve watercolored one of the images in the bundle to create a fun fresh card.
I love this Lemon Composition image, it’s so simple, and so I really wanted to keep the coloring simple as well. I printed it out on Bee Paper (140lb 100% Cotton Cold Press) which is my go to for digital stamp printing using my Brother Laser Black and White printer.
I used my Altenew Artist watercolors to paint the lemons. I started with a wash of yellow and then dropped some light green in it – my lemons aren’t quite ripe yet! I used different shades of green for the leaves, and added a little detail with my Stabilo 88s which are water soluble, as well as brown for the twig.
I had to google Lemon flowers as I had no idea what color they were – the answer is white with a yellow centre. As I can’t paint white, I added some pale green to add shelter and give the illusion of white. I then added lots of splatters for good measure.
When dry, I stamped this super simple sentiment from Just Because by Gina K Designs in black ink, backed it all onto a panel of craft foam and popped it onto a notecard. I now have it propped up on a window ledge for a summery vibe.
