Oh my goodness – two Altenew hops in a week – and this is a biggie! I was super excited to see sneaks of this release on the socials featuring Creativation, and today’s the day I can finally show you what I created with the Altenew January 2020 release. Of course, this is part of a blog hop with prizes, stay tuned for details. All of the stops on the hop are at the end of this post if you get lost along the way.

Before I show you my cards, let’s dive into the new release. Isn’t it a veritable smorgasbord of gorgeousness!?

My first card uses a super fun technique. It’s a great one to use with ombre ink sets and quick and easy, and features the Retro Plantines stamp set and co-ordinating dies.

It uses dies to create stencils for ombre repeat pattern cards. I’ve created a video showing you how I created this card which you can see here or over on my YouTube.

I think the look also goes fabulously with the modern stamps in the Retro Plantines stamp set. I used co-ordinating dies to make a stencil, lined it up on my Altenew mat, and ink blended inks over the top. I then moved my DIY stencil to the right two squares, ink blended a slightly darker coloring and moved on. I used the Cherry Blossom inks for this, and Gray Denim to stamp the focal image directly over the top of my ink blending.

To finish, I added a black strip of card stock on foam tape, with a simple and bold white heat embossed sentiment from the Retro Plantines set.

My next card uses some of the Retro Plantines stamps, and mixes it up with the new Vase Fillers stamp set. I stamped and die cut a bunch of the images – the outline leaves from Retro Plantines in black ink, and the solid silhouette florals and leaves using multi color stamping or ombre stamping – inking up each image on my MISTI with more than one color before stamping. For the yellow/pink, I used colors from Pocketful of Sunshine and Cherry Blossom ink sets. For the blue/green, I used colors from the Deep Blue Seas and Green Valley ink sets. I also threw in some Wisteria from the Enchanted Garden ink set with the pink inks.

Once stamped, I die cut them all out and arranged them onto a panel of striped black and white paper from the Altenew Essentials Rock Collection paper pad, and added a few clear sequins. The sentiment is from the new Watercolor Halftone stamp set, which has tons of lovely ones – I heat embossed it in white on black cardstock.

My final card for today ( and I’ll share a few more this week – I made a LOT!) features more of the Watercolor Halftone stampset. I love this set, I think it’s my favorite from the entire release. To create the card, I stamped the small rose leaf cluster in the darkest ink from the Gentleman’s Gray set, over another black and white ombre panel of paper from the Essential Rock Collection paper pad. I also flicked on some acrylic paint, and some Altenew Antique Gold Spray and set it aside to dry.

I stamped one of the bouquets from the Watercolor Halftone set onto gray cardstock and die cut it out with the co-ordinating die, as well as stamping the rose leaf cluster again in black ink onto white cardstock, and die cut them out. I then adhered it to the top of the panel on foam squares, (slotting the white die cut leaves directly behind onto the paper itself for dimension), and trimmed off the excess. The sentiment was heat embossed on black with gold powder, and I finished it off with some gold and black sequins to co-ordinate for a classy, unusual look.
