Hi Everyone!
It’s time for another Time Out Challenge, and for this one we are challenging you to be Loving. The challenge is sponsored by Birch Press Design and one lucky winner will receive a $20 gift voucher to spend in their store.
For my card, I was inspired by Erum Taseem’s gorgeous card which showed how to create an impression in watercolor using a stencil. You can see the video of how she did it here on her YouTube channel (and I highly recommend checking out her other videos – so many beautiful cards).
To create my card I first die cut a stitched rectangle from Canson XL watercolor cardstock. I used a large paintbursh and added water to the centre in an abstract shape. I then used my Mission Gold watercolors in blues, purples and pinks to drop in color, letting it blend. I also added some spatters to create more texture, and added in some Rose Gold Finetec watercolor for shimmer.
Before it dried, I overlaid the Studio Katia Mandala stencil over the top and then set a large acrylic block on top, lots of books and heavy objects and left it dry (for about 30 minutes). When I removed the stencil, the paint had collected around some of the edges of the stencil. To really bring out the pattern more, I dabbed it with a damp baby wipe to lift away some of the paint. I then mounted the panel onto a white note card with craft foam.
I die cut the Birch Press Design Large Love and You Sugarscript dies from CPD Vellum and Mirror Gold cardstock, adhered them together with liquid adhesive and then adhered them to the centre of the painted panel with small pieces of foam squares. As a finishing touch, I added some co-ordinating sequins.
Be sure to head on over to the Time Out Challenges site and link up to be in with a chance to win. We also have a Guest Designer joining us for this challenge – Jane Taylor who I used to design with as part of the AAA Cards Challenge! She’s created some beautiful cards to inspire you!
Have a wonderful day!

I love Erum, how fun you’ve made a card inspired by her! The soft color of the stenciling look amazing, such shabby chic look… And then the die cut, shiny sentiment really pops from it! Absolutely love the contrast! xxx
I adore the soft look of the background and the subtle use of the stencil. Then we have the gold-which is perfect as it really stands out from the softness of the background-super card x
Gorgeous card, Jenny. I love those dreamy colors and that awesome bold gold sentiment.
What a beautiful, ethereal look to your pastel background, Jenny … the simple vellum backed gold sentiment allows it to shine! Hugs, Anita 🙂
So pretty – the soft colours, the subtle stencil pattern, the splatters and the shiny gold sentiment all work so beautifully together! Wonderful card!
Jenny!! I finally found your blog! Well, I mean it wasn’t hard to find, but better said, I found the time to visit 🙂 Your card is GORGEOUS as are all of your creations! I could stare for days! xoxo
