Hi Everyone!
I have another card to share from the recent Snowy Day release from Catherine Pooler Designs. This was such a wonderful release I couldn’t stop playing with it. Today I have a clean and simple one layer card, incorporating some really easy masking that gives lots of white space and really lets the stamped images shine in their own right.
To create the card, I took a CPD Premium White notecard, and masked off the the upper portion at an angle using masking paper. You could also use post it tape or a post-it note – something low tack. I then used a mini ink blending tool and blended Something Borrowed ink down from the edge of the masking paper, fading out towards the bottom corner of the note card. My mini ink blender pad wasn’t quite clean and had some Sweet Sixteen left on it (oops!) but it was a happy accident as I liked the blend of colors I ended up getting!
I kept the masking paper in place, then inked up several of the Peaceful Flakes stamps with Something Borrowed, and stamped them over the ink blended area (when it had a few minutes to dry to ensure crisp images). I was sure to overlap some of the stamped images with the masking paper to ensure the masked area would be further emphasised.
I then removed the masking paper, and stamped the sentiment from the set in Midnight Black ink. As a finishing touch, I added CPD Glacier Bay sequins onto the snowflakes in the centres, and and spokes.
Masking is a great way to create interest on a one layer card (which are great for posting/mailing) and you can really get creative – different angles, masked shapes – the sky is the limit!
