Catherine Pooler Designs / Create Your Own Patterned Paper

Hi Everyone!

It’s Jenny here, swooping in with a card that I created, inspired by the new patterned paper release (see here for all of the new goodies, my blog hop post is coming tomorrow!)  The new patterned paper has some great floral images on it, that co-ordinate with other stamp sets from past Catherine Pooler Designs releases.  I decided to use the Perfect Reason stamp set, and tonnes of the gorgeous Catherine Pooler Spa Collection inks to create a patterned paper look myself.

This card was super fun to create – lots of stamping – grab those acrylic blocks!  I used the Perfect Reason stampset.  I first stamped the sentiment in the centre on a Catherine Pooler Premium White card base in Black Jack ink (grey).  I then stamped a selection of images from the set, all in different colors from the CPD inks Spa collection.

Some tips on creating this sort of look:

• First off, stamp the larger images first – you can them stamp smaller and smaller images to fill in the gaps.  I even went down to the tiny berry included in the stamp set to fill in some of the gaps.
• Don’t be afraid to overlap images – particularly where the images have a sketchy look like these.
• Use second generation stamping – to get the soft look on some of the darker colors, I stamped off on scrap paper first before then stamping the image (I did this with Skylight, Polished, Green Tea, Sugared Lavender and Eucalyptus).  CP Inks are awesome for second generation stamping, and hey, you just doubled your ink color collection!

As a final touch, I used Oyster Grey Nuvo drops to fill in some of the last few spaces for subtle dimension without adding extra color.
